13 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rama Udo! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roberto Silva! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Daniel Bishop and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Udo fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. A low kick from Udo misses and Silva counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Udo! Udo on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Udo tries to get out of the position. Silva goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Udo rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Silva's guard! Nice work there by Udo! Silva has his foot on Udo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Udo works his way back into a safe position though. Silva is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Udo defends well. Silva avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Udo trying to control but Silva is working from the bottom. Udo throwing strikes but missing. Silva is trying to control the position but Udo postures up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Udo throws a strike but Silva rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Udo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Silva is one step ahead there. Silva slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
That's one minute gone in the round. Udo tries to buck Silva off but Silva is having none of it. Silva working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Udo keeping his opponent close. Silva wants to lay and pray for a moment but Udo keeps working. Silva tries for a kimura but Udo is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Silva is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Udo has escaped the position, nice work there. Udo is trying to get back to half guard. Silva has an Americana. Udo didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Silva is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Silva hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
