Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between The Rhino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jos Beton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for The Rhino has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, The Rhino!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jos Beton!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Aafke Stam and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Beton gets a takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Beton wants to pass the guard but Rhino is defending well.

Beton is working for a kimura but Rhino is defending it quite comfortably.
Rhino trying to control from the bottom.
Beton content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Beton is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Rhino doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Beton.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Beton is thwarting Rhino's attempts to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Beton is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Rhino has managed to free his arm - good work.
Rhino trying to control from the bottom.

Beton is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rhino is just riding it out for now. Beton eventually gives up the hold.

Beton is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Beton passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Rhino!
Rhino sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Beton slows the pace down in half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Beton uses his free foot to push down on Rhino's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Rhino.

Beton looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Beton is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Rhino has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Rhino!

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Rhino changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Rhino keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Rhino pushes Beton up against the cage in a clinch.
Rhino has Beton pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Beton manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Rhino is looking to take this one to the mat.
Rhino gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Beton.

Rhino breaks the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Beton shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Rhino manages to escape and get back to his feet!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Beton.
The Rhino has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jos Beton.
Rhino dives in for a single leg takedown but Beton sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Rhino moves into the clinch successfully.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Rhino escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rhino shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Beton as he jumps to the side.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Beton shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Rhino defends it nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that The Rhino will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



A momentary lapse in concentration from Rhino enables Beton to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Rhino manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Rhino manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Beton tries for a takedown but Rhino manages to get underhooks.

Rhino pulls Beton into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Beton wants to control from the top but Rhino keeps moving.

Beton thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Rhino tries to strike from the bottom.

Rhino is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Beton defends well.

Rhino had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Beton defends it easily.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

and Rhino counters with a three punch combo that has Beton backing up. Beton nods at Rhino to acknowledge the strikes.

The Rhino has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jos Beton.
Rhino tries to score a power double leg takedown but Beton sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Rhino somewhat.
Beton dives in and grabs Rhino's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rhino pushes down on Beton's head and hops out.

Beton feints and as Rhino raises his hands in defense, Beton changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Rhino fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Beton avoids it really well and circles away.
The Rhino is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Rhino pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Beton dives in for a single leg takedown but Rhino sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Jos Beton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rhino rushes Beton and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Beton changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Rhino fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Beton walks forward, straight into a front kick from Rhino.
Rhino misses with a takedown attempt - Beton sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Rhino dives in for a single leg takedown but Beton sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

and Rhino connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Beton stuffs the takedown attempt from Rhino. Rhino gets slowly back to his feet.
Beton shoots in looking for a takedown but Rhino manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Beton's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Rhino clinches with his opponent.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rhino throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Rhino wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Beton drops back, looking for a kneebar! Rhino looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Rhino looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Rhino!
Rhino is looking to take a break and control but Beton is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Rhino looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Rhino decides to stand up, so the ref orders Beton to his feet.
Rhino stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rhino wants it to stay on the feet.
Beton closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rhino circles away.

Beton fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rhino sprawls well initially but Beton persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Beton takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Beton is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Rhino is defending against the submission attempts here by Beton.

Rhino makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Rhino.
Rhino seems keen to control Beton's posture.
Beton wants to control from the top but Rhino keeps moving.
Rhino has his hands on Beton's head, controlling the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Beton postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Rhino is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Beton, into his guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Beton shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rhino as he avoids it easily.

Beton drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Rhino manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Rhino gets underhooks to prevent Beton's takedown attempt.
Rhino lands an uppercut.
Rhino content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Jos Beton has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Rhino ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Rhino no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Rhino is trying to control the position but Beton postures up.
The Rhino is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Rhino bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Beton's guard.

Beton is working an open guard so Rhino takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
The Rhino showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rhino, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
