PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Simon Vale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lock Bresnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vale comes to the cage accompanied by Motorhead-Iron Fist . Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Simon Vale!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lock Bresnar!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Franklyn Lucas and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Vale does no damage.
Bresnar tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Vale manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
The crowd cheers as Bresnar lands an impressive looking overhand right. Vale doesn't seem phased though.
Vale slips under a jab from Bresnar.
Vale lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Bresnar has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Bresnar connects with a body shot that sends Vale's belly button to the back.
Vale ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bresnar moves away.
Horrible takedown attempt by Vale or perhaps it was just good defense by Bresnar, which made it look bad.
Bresnar feints a counter leg kick.
Simon Vale seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Vale swinging wildly here.
Nice shot lands for Bresnar.


It looks like Simon Vale has been cut.
Bresnar throws out a powerful jab.
Vale is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Bresnar.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Vale throws a low kick but Bresnar avoids it.
Bresnar attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Vale connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Bresnar looks to throw the jab but Vale is out of range.
Bresnar is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vale lands with a hook. Bresnar tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.


It looks like Lock Bresnar has been cut.

Bresnar bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Vale! He dives into his guard looking to finish!


Vale is rocked!
Bresnar gets to his feet and stands over Vale, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Vale felt that one! Bresnar unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Vale from any more punishment!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lock Bresnar!
After the big win, Lock Bresnar made sure to do all the important stuff like thanking his sponsors Underworld Clothing and telling the interviewer how much he loves him.
The defeated Simon Vale had this to say: 'I just want to say that tonight the better man won, Your a good fighter.'.
