Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Avery Marquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lewis MCcarthur (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Avery Marquez has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marquez fails with a takedown attempt.
MCcarthur drives through and clinches with Marquez against the cage.
MCcarthur manages to break the clinch.
MCcarthur dives in and scores a takedown into Marquez's guard.
The fighters are working up against the cage. Marquez manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
MCcarthur breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Marquez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
MCcarthur closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

MCcarthur is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

MCcarthur moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Marquez has worked his arm free - good work by Marquez!

MCcarthur throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Marquez's waist but Marquez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing MCcarthur off to one side.

and MCcarthur makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Marquez throws a quick head kick that skims the top of MCcarthur's head.
Marquez feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to MCcarthur's calf.

Marquez tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. MCcarthur just stands there and leans against the cage.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
MCcarthur pulls guard effortlessly.
MCcarthur bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Marquez's guard.
Marquez working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because MCcarthur has passed into half guard!
MCcarthur is figuring out what he wants to do next.

MCcarthur seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
MCcarthur seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. MCcarthur connects with a nice short shot to Marquez's temple.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lewis MCcarthur showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Marquez moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
MCcarthur shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. MCcarthur showed some decent athleticism there.

Well, if MCcarthur is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

MCcarthur wants to finish this one by submission but Marquez is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from MCcarthur.
MCcarthur is landing with some decent strikes but Marquez is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

MCcarthur loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Marquez scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from MCcarthur land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. MCcarthur stands and salutes the crowd.
