Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Brian Gumby!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Semon Chan!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Sandra Marshall and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gumby lands the left hand.
Gumby fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Chan manages to avoid it.
A little jabbing left from Chan on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Chan darts in and clinches Gumby up against the cage.
Chan pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Gumby is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Chan goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Chan manages to break the clinch.
A good leg kick by Gumby.
Chan misses with a hook to the body
and Gumby connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Gumby scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gumby throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Chan clinches up with Gumby and pushes him back against the cage.
Chan wants the takedown. Gumby is fighting it off but Chan persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Gumby's guard against the cage.
Gumby is looking to stand back up but Chan counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Gumby.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Chan looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Chan lands with a punch from half guard.
Chan moves nicely into side control.
Chan should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Chan staying calm.
Gumby knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Chan on the ground.
Chan has hold of Gumby's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Gumby tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Chan cranks the arm and Gumby screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Gumby, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Semon Chan!
