PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rumina Sato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Whitehope (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sato's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Call to prayer of islam. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 20 - 0, fighting out of London, Rumina Sato!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Whitehope!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Johanna Lukiainen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whitehope misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Whitehope moves out of range of the body kick from Sato.
Sato tries to work over Whitehope's front leg with a kick but Whitehope checks it.
Whitehope avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Sato scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Whitehope doesn't seem bothered though.

Whitehope clinches up with Sato and pushes him back against the cage.

Sato throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Whitehope tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Sato defends well and Whitehope ends up having to push Sato into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

As Whitehope backs away, Sato returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sato looks to throw the jab but Whitehope is out of range.

Whitehope goes for a double leg but Sato avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Sato continues to drive forward.

Sato was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

That was a close second round but I would say that Rumina Sato will probably get the nod.
