Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sam Soule (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pete Downe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Soule moves into the clinch. Soule wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Soule fails to pull guard.
Downe has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Soule avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Downe is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Soule pulls him back up using the underhooks. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Soule tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Downe just stands there and leans against the cage. Soule prevents the takedown attempt.
Sam Soule has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pete Downe. Soule tries to pull guard but Downe won't allow it.
Soule is fighting off a takedown attempt but Downe is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Soule to the mat. Soule regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Downe prevents Soule from getting back to his feet. Downe throwing strikes from guard but Soule blocks nicely. Soule avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Soule looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Soule throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Soule wants to sweep but no luck. Soule has momentary wrist control but Downe slips an elbow through the middle. Downe trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Soule is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Soule preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Soule has Downe pulled in close to control his posture. Soule working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Downe. Downe preventing the sweep. Soule wants to stand but Downe is controlling the position. Soule is breathing heavily.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Downe shoots for a takedown but Soule saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Soule shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Downe pinned against the cage. Downe gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Soule tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Downe drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Downe trying to control the position from guard on top but Soule is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Soule utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Downe stands up over Soule, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Soule controls Downe momentarily but Downe frees himself. Soule might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Downe prevents Soule from getting back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Downe stands up over Soule, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Downe stopping the sweep attempt from Soule. Downe with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Downe landing with the ground and pound. Soule throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Downe landing some decent shots from guard. Downe chips away with some ground and pound. Soule is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Downe scoring with punches to the head and body. Soule tries to land a sweep but no joy. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Downe's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Soule on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Soule tries to get out of the position. Downe lands a couple of elbows. Soule had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Downe is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Soule Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Downe's back instead. Downe breaks Soule's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pete Downe dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Downe has managed to clinch.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Soule just misses with a elbow thrown towards Downe's brow. Downe has hold of one of Soule's legs. Soule is fighting the takedown attempt but Downe gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Downe keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Soule's head. Downe cracks Soule with a solid left hand. Downe trying to control the position from guard on top but Soule is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Soule controls Downe momentarily but Downe frees himself. Soule is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Downe loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Downe distracts Soule with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
That's one minute gone in the round. Downe with a flurry of punches that miss. Soule not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Soule shoots in but no luck this time. Downe throws a low kick but it's checked well by Soule. Downe shoots in and drives through. Soule sprawls well. Downe shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Soule as he avoids it easily. Soule with a lazy takedown attempt and Downe counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Soule blocking the ground and pound attempt from Downe. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Downe connects with a nice short shot to Soule's temple. Soule is trying to stand.
Downe not landing any meaningful shots this time. Downe lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Soule wants to control but Downe is keeping busy.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Soule shoots and misses and Downe counters with a single leg into guard. Soule didn't expect that. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sam Soule. That's going to take a lot out of him. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Downe trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Soule preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Downe trying to control but Soule is working from the bottom. Soule pushes Downe off and gets back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Soule shoots and misses so Downe counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Downe's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Downe is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Downe connects with a couple of short punches. Soule is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Soule wants to stand and escape but Downe is having none of it. Soule not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Downe closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Downe lands in his opponent's guard. Downe won't allow Soule to sweep him here. Soule working a defensive guard here.
Soule is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Downe is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Downe avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Pete Downe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
Downe shoots in looking for a takedown. Soule tries to sprawl out of it but Downe keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Soule manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Sam Soule is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Downe slips a jab and a cross from Soule.
Downe shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Soule fails to land the takedown. Downe tries to clinch up but Soule circles away and keeps his distance. Both fighters are breathing heavily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Soule fails with the takedown. Downe shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Soule with a lazy takedown attempt and Downe counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Soule avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Downe scoring with punches to the head and body. Downe is looking to work some ground and pound but Soule has wrist control. Soule trying to keep a closed guard but Downe is proving a slippery customer.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Soule escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Downe gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Downe is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Downe stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Soule swivels though and keeps the full guard.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Nice sprawl there from Downe as Soule shoots in. Downe shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Downe showed some decent athleticism there. Downe trying to control from half guard but Soule is working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Soule moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Soule keeping moving, preventing Downe from controlling successfully. Soule looking to hit a scissor sweep but Downe is one step ahead there. Downe throws a big right hand that misses. Soule trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Soule working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Downe. Pete Downe is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Soule working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Downe.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Downe drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Downe lands a decent elbow from side control. Soule is trying to get back to half guard. Downe scoring with punches and elbows. Downe lands a nice forearm strike. Soule wants to control but Downe postures up. Soule is not content to let Downe control the position.
And that's the end of the fight! Pete Downe comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Downe winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
