Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jamel Bernard! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tyrone James! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! James rushes Bernard and presses him up against the cage. James jumps guard and drags Bernard to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. James wants to hit a switch here but Bernard passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for James there! James keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
James wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back. Bernard is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. James covering up well and avoiding damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. James trying to get back to his feet but Bernard is in full control for now. Bernard is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. James knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften James for a finish. James trying to control the position but Bernard manages to sink in the hooks. Bernard tightening his grip on James, looking for the choke. James is trying to get back to his feet but Bernard has full control of the position and if anything, James has just worked his way into a worse spot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. James is trying to break free.
James wants to control his opponent's hands but Bernard gets his hands free. Bernard tightening his grip on James, looking for the choke. Bernard misses with an elbow to the head. James tries to escape but Bernard has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
That's three minutes gone in the round. James tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! James wants to hold on but Bernard pushes him away. James can't escape the position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Bernard is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But James has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from James!
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. James shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than James was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Bernard is looking for a sweep.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bernard can't do much from the bottom here. James goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Bernard rolls with the submission and now he's on top in James's guard! Nice work there by Bernard! James working a defensive guard here.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tyrone James dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
James cracks a nice hook into Bernard's ribs. James has Bernard up against the cage in a clinch.

James pivots, looking for a leg kick but Bernard is out of range and James settles back down. James shoots in and bounces Bernard off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Bernard will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. James tries to free his leg and advance position but Bernard is retaining full guard. James has been the more effective fighter overall so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. James is working Bernard over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Bernard looking for a sweep. Not yet Bernard, not yet.
That's one minute gone in the round. James keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Bernard's head. James tries to free his leg and advance position but Bernard is retaining full guard. James stopping the sweep attempt from Bernard. James wants to control from the top but Bernard keeps moving. Bernard can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as James controls the pace.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. James pushes Bernard up against the cage in a clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. James prevents Bernard from breaking the clinch. Bernard has James pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. James manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Bernard has had enough of the clinch but James keeps him there for the moment. James gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Bernard makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Nice takedown defense from James. No joy for Bernard on that attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jamel Bernard. That's going to take a lot out of him. Bernard shoots in but no luck this time. James looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Bernard has one foot on James's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. James darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bernard wants to control but James is keeping busy.
Tyrone James has got the better of the ground game so far. Bernard makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Bernard. James got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bernard has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, James has managed to get both his arms back between Bernard's legs - danger averted. James trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Bernard can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as James controls the pace.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Bernard trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Bernard is trying to keep James in close.
James is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Nice sprawl there from James as Bernard shoots in. A head kick by James misses and Bernard counters with a lovely straight right hand! Bernard really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. James has closed the distance and engaged Bernard in a clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Bernard is trying to break the clinch but James has him pressed against the cage. Bernard tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. James smiles and moves away.
Bernard looks for a takedown but James sprawls well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tyrone James showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
James drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. James landing some decent shots from guard. Bernard trying to control the position.
James is looking to stand up but Bernard won't let him. James showing good wrestling skills to control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bernard has his foot on James's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. James works his way back into a safe position though.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. James closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Bernard to the mat! Bernard manages to get full guard. Bernard has a closed guard, preventing James from standing up. James stays in close to Bernard's body and controls the position. Bernard throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Bernard is looking to stand back up but James counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Bernard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. James takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Bernard works his way to full guard. Good work. Bernard seems keen to control James's posture. Bernard being controlled here, momentarily. James has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Bernard is proving hard to escape from. James looking to pass the guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bernard had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. James defends it easily. Bernard trying to control the position here. Bernard has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. James has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage. James is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Bernard can't fight it off and eventually James manages to take the fight to the floor. Bernard looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Bernard is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. James tries to stand but Bernard is controlling from the bottom. Bernard striking off his back but it's not causing James any problems. James landing some decent shots from guard. James sitting in guard, not really doing much. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bernard is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
And that's the end of the fight! Tyrone James comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well James has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
