Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jose Brandao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brandao kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Work Hard, Play Hard. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
23 - 17 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jose Brandao! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
21 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kevin James! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! James throws a left and a right that both miss
and Brandao counters with an outside leg kick.
James doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Brandao takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. James thuds a left hand into Brandao's body. A telegraphed right hand from James misses the target. James looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Brandao keeping moving, preventing James from controlling successfully. James looking to pass the guard. Brandao pulls James in close to his closed guard and prevents James from doing any damage or advancing position. James scores with a decent looking elbow strike. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. James in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. James is looking to work some ground and pound but Brandao has wrist control. James stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brandao swivels though and keeps the full guard. James throws a big right hand that misses. James trying to control but Brandao is working from the bottom. James distracts Brandao with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Brandao controls James momentarily but James frees himself. James with a flurry of punches that miss.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. James forces his way into half guard. James wants to advance to full mount but Brandao doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. James wants to control from the top but Brandao keeps moving. Brandao is looking for a triangle but James pushes his legs off easily.
Brandao is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. James sitting in guard, not really doing much.
That's three minutes gone in the round. James is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. James throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Brandao avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. James with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Brandao has James pulled in close to control his posture. Brandao preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Brandao looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. James trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Brandao tries to land a leg kick but James saw it coming and moves away.
Brandao stuns James with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. James cracks Brandao with an open hand slap. James dips down and scores with a jab to the body. James walks into a jab. James takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Kevin James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. James uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Brandao.
Brandao pulls out of a head kick attempt.
James throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Brandao was covering up waiting for the punch and James finishes the takedown easily into guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kevin James dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
James displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Brandao throws out the jab. Brandao walks into a stiff left hand from James. Jose Brandao is winning the standup battle so far. Brandao digs a good hook to James's body.
James throws a one two combo.
Brandao walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. James drives through with a takedown into Brandao's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. James trying to control the position from guard on top but Brandao is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. James trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Kevin James has got the better of the ground game so far. Brandao is pulling down on James's head. It's preventing any offense from James, at least for the moment. Brandao keeping moving, preventing James from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. James tries to free his leg and advance position but Brandao is retaining full guard. Brandao seems keen to control James's posture. Brandao not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. James working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. James looking to pass the guard. Brandao working a defensive guard here.
James has been the more effective fighter overall so far. James postures up and lands a big shot to Brandao's brow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Brandao working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from James. Brandao looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Brandao tries to land a front kick but James steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. James on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Brandao misses with an uppercut. Brandao throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Brandao looks to throw the jab but James is out of range. James misses with a takedown attempt and Brandao counters with a straight punch to the midsection. James swinging wildly here.
James lunges at Brandao with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Brandao's hand. James's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and James duly obliges.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Brandao misses with a hook. James ducked under it nicely. Brandao dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Brandao throws a series of punches but James avoids them all with ease. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! James misses with a looping left. Brandao tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and James is able to avoid easily. Brandao staying out of range there. Brandao ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Brandao leaves James with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. James jabs Brandao to the body, keeping him at a distance. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kevin James showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Brandao throws out a token jab with nothing on it. James tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Brandao throws a low kick but it's checked well by James. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Brandao.
James pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Brandao back to the cage. James follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. James ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Brandao moves away. Kevin James is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. The fighters circle momentarily. Brandao darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Brandao takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
James lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. James gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Brandao counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. James changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Brandao tries to avoid it but James manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Brandao to the ground. Brandao escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Jose Brandao has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kevin James. James misses with a series of wild punches.
That's three minutes gone in the round. James fails with the takedown and Brandao counters with a massive head kick! KABOOM! James is out cold! A devastating KO!
