Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roger Birbiglia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mason is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Darude - Sandstorm. Max Mason will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Roger Birbiglia! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Max Mason! The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Summer Carpenter and Francis DeMontford.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mason swinging wildly here.
Mason works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Mason takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Mason tries to close the distance and clinch but Birbiglia swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Birbiglia avoids a kick to the body.
Mason turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Mason lands a nice hook to Birbiglia's body. Birbiglia takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Birbiglia scores with a takedown into Mason's guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Mason not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Mason is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Birbiglia scores with a couple of nice shots. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Birbiglia stalling. Birbiglia working Mason over with strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nice strikes from Birbiglia there. Birbiglia is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Birbiglia scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Mason tries to get to full guard but Birbiglia has control of the leg. Birbiglia seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Mason is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Roger Birbiglia! Roger Birbiglia retains his light heavyweight title! An out of breath Roger Birbiglia thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
