Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Peter Higgens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rubicon Brandy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Higgens comes into the arena with Down With The Sickness blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Peter Higgens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rubicon Brandy!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Eddie Farnsworth and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Higgens manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Brandy on his heels. He'll look to pass Brandy's guard now, I'm sure.
Higgens throwing strikes but missing.

Higgens is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Brandy is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Brandy has escaped and now he's on top!


Higgens is looking for a triangle here but Brandy uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Higgens is looking to regain half guard here but Brandy keeps moving and retains side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brandy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Higgens keeps working.
Brandy content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Higgens is trying to maintain the position but Brandy is very close to passing his half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Higgens is trying to get back to full guard.
Higgens has a hand on Brandy's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Brandy takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Brandy prevents Higgens from getting the reversal.

Higgens is looking for a sweep. Brandy is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Higgens trying to control but Brandy postures up.
Higgens wants to get back to full guard but Brandy has passed into side control.

Higgens has a hand on Brandy's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Brandy takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Higgens has Brandy up against the cage in a clinch.
Brandy stalls.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Brandy just misses with a elbow thrown towards Higgens's brow.
Higgens wants a takedown.

Higgens gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Higgens tries to pass the half guard into mount. Brandy knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Higgens works his foot free and advances to mount.

Higgens moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Brandy has worked his arm free - good work by Brandy!
Brandy can't do much from the bottom here.

Brandy is looking to reverse the position.

We've been hearing that Higgens has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Higgens in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Higgens working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Brandy sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Brandy is refusing to be controlled, as Higgens sits in half guard.
Higgens looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Higgens is looking for a kimura but Brandy is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Higgens to get the leverage.
Brandy avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Higgens.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brandy has hold of Higgens's hands but Higgens slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Brandy is not content to let Higgens control the position.

Higgens is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Higgens looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Brandy with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Higgens throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Higgens wants to take a breather but Brandy is having none of it.
Peter Higgens overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Brandy blocking the ground and pound attempt from Higgens.
Brandy is concentrating on defense, preventing Higgens from advancing position.
Brandy is looking to control Higgens's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Brandy avoid being mounted?
Higgens looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Higgens seems to be working for a kimura but Brandy defends the submission attempt.

Higgens is working for a kimura here but Brandy manages to reverse the position and he's now in Higgens's guard.

Higgens trying to keep a closed guard but Brandy is proving a slippery customer.

Higgens isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Brandy stacks Higgens on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Brandy!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Higgens misses with a takedown attempt - Brandy sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Brandy throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Higgens.
Higgens gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Brandy counters by moving into the clinch.
Higgens is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Brandy gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Peter Higgens. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Brandy doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Brandy has Higgens pressed against the cage, preventing Higgens from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Higgens is trying to pull guard but Brandy has him pressed against the cage.
Higgens is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Brandy slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Higgens wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Brandy is now in half guard.
Higgens is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Higgens gets full guard.

Higgens has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Brandy is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Higgens.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Brandy gets to mount! Higgens was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Higgens sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Higgens makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Higgens.
Higgens looking to hit a scissor sweep but Brandy is one step ahead there.
Brandy keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Higgens's head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Higgens wants to hit a switch here but Brandy passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Higgens there!
Higgens wants to control but Brandy is having none of it.
Higgens is looking to get to half guard.
Higgens is working hard here to advance position.
Brandy connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Higgens is looking to improve his position but Brandy isn't that keen on the idea.

Higgens is in all sorts of trouble here.

Brandy cracks Higgens with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rubicon Brandy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Brandy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Rubicon Brandy thanked the fans post fight for their support.
The defeated Peter Higgens had this to say: 'First of all I want to thank my fans that stayed with me during my time away and who believed in me...This was a tough loss, but I promise I will go back to the gym and be better prepared for my next opponent.'.
