Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Forrest Gibson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Charlie Van Houten!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gibson doesn't manage to clinch there - Van Houten circles away.

Gibson closes the distance and pushes Van Houten back into the cage.
Van Houten misses with a punch to the body.
Van Houten jumps guard but Gibson stands there with Van Houten around his waist. Van Houten gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Van Houten breaks the clinch.
Van Houten shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gibson as he jumps to the side.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Van Houten shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gibson pinned against the cage. Gibson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Forrest Gibson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Charlie Van Houten.
Van Houten pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Van Houten fails to land the takedown.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Van Houten shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Van Houten throws a series of punches but Gibson avoids them all with ease.
Gibson attempts a counter takedown but Van Houten avoids it well and moves away.
Van Houten looks winded!

Gibson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Gibson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Gibson missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Gibson is looking for a kimura here.
Gibson working Van Houten over with strikes.
Gibson controlling the pace.
Gibson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Gibson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Gibson is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Van Houten is not content to let Gibson control the position.
Van Houten is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Gibson scores with a couple of nice shots.
Gibson wants to control but Van Houten is keeping him busy.

Gibson maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Van Houten could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Gibson has cracked it and Van Houten is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Gibson!
