Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Damian Kmiec (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jay Silva has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Damian Kmiec's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva misses with a head kick.
Kmiec takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Silva tries for a takedown but Kmiec circles away easily

and Kmiec counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Kmiec tries to stand but Silva is controlling from the bottom.

Silva is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kmiec is aware though and is defending well.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kmiec is landing with some decent strikes but Silva is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Silva sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Silva has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Kmiec has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kmiec darts in looking for a takedown but Silva gets double underhooks and turns Kmiec into the cage.

Kmiec fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Silva to the ground. Kmiec is now in Silva's guard.

Silva uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Silva dives in and grabs Kmiec's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kmiec pushes down on Silva's head and hops out.
Nice takedown defense from Silva. No joy for Kmiec on that attempt.
Silva pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Kmiec drops down looking for a counter takedown but Silva sprawls and moves away.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Horrible takedown attempt by Silva or perhaps it was just good defense by Kmiec, which made it look bad.
