Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Owen Whipple (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rasul Mirzaev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mirzaev is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Natalie La Rose - Somebody ft. Jeremih. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Owen Whipple! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rasul Mirzaev! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Whipple buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Whipple scores with a sloppy right hand. Mirzaev should have avoided that one. Mirzaev swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Whipple will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Mirzaev throws a jab when Whipple was well out of range. Whipple fires out a quick counter leg kick but Mirzaev just manages to avoid it. Mirzaev misses with a body shot.
Mirzaev throws a hook to the side of Whipple's head but Whipple sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Mirzaev misses with a looping right. Whipple moves away from the strike by Mirzaev. Whipple looks to land a body kick but Mirzaev moved away. Mirzaev tries to sprawl but Whipple drives through with a takedown into half guard. Mirzaev kicks off Whipple and gets to his feet. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Whipple on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Whipple moves out of range of the strikes. Whipple appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Whipple takes a jab right on the kisser.
Whipple is rocked! Whipple uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Mirzaev. Oh Whipple is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Some bone on bone action there as Whipple checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
That's one minute gone in the round. Whipple scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Whipple seems to have got his legs back now. Mirzaev swinging wildly here.
Whipple drops down looking for a counter takedown but Mirzaev sprawls and moves away. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Mirzaev checks a leg kick. Mirzaev throws a hook to the side of Whipple's head but Whipple sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. A jab lands there for Mirzaev. Mirzaev throws a lazy right hand but Whipple sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Whipple changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Mirzaev might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Mirzaev checks the leg kick nicely there.
Mirzaev moves out of range of the leg kick from Whipple. Whipple throws a chopping leg kick but Mirzaev manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Mirzaev connects with a single shot there. Mirzaev misses with an uppercut. Whipple appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Mirzaev takes a swing at Whipple's ribcage but misses. Jab from Mirzaev. Mirzaev ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Whipple moves away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mirzaev throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Whipple scores with a kick to the midsection. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mirzaev throws a left and a right that both miss
and Whipple counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Whipple with a nice head shot there. Mirzaev has momentary wrist control but Whipple slips an elbow through the middle. Whipple thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Whipple works over Mirzaev with some ground and pound from guard. Mirzaev preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Whipple stands and throws Mirzaev's legs to the side, diving into side control. Whipple wants to control but Mirzaev is keeping him busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mirzaev takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Whipple is looking to take a break and control but Mirzaev is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Whipple has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Whipple thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Mirzaev bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Whipple connects with an inside leg kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mirzaev misses with a jab, cross combination.
Whipple blocks a jab. Whipple drops down looking for a counter takedown but Mirzaev sprawls and moves away. Whipple throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mirzaev was covering up waiting for the punch and Whipple finishes the takedown easily into guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Whipple won't allow Mirzaev to get back to his feet. Whipple trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Mirzaev keeping moving, preventing Whipple from controlling successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Rasul Mirzaev will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Whipple tries a low kick but Mirzaev avoids it. Mirzaev throws a lazy right hand but Whipple sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Whipple thinks about countering with a body kick. Mirzaev avoids the head kick by Whipple.
Mirzaev comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Whipple cracks the inside of Mirzaev's front leg. Whipple's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Mirzaev connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Whipple scrambles back to his feet. Whipple finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Mirzaev missing with a left hand there. Whipple was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Mirzaev misses with a straight right. A telegraphed right hand from Mirzaev misses the target. Whipple tried to counter with a leg kick but Mirzaev avoided it. Whipple really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mirzaev swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Whipple appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Mirzaev drops Whipple with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Whipple looks back up at him and smiles so Mirzaev waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Whipple tries to counter with a takedown but Mirzaev is quick to defend against it. Whipple takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Mirzaev weaves into range and cracks Whipple right on the temple with a beautiful overhand right! Whipple goes down! He's out cold! Wow, what a beautiful knockout! Mirzaev is strutting round the canvas like a movie star as the camera bulbs flash frantically.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Rasul Mirzaev! Rasul Mirzaev really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Mohito Fightwear logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty. Owen Whipple spoke after the fight, saying 'I guess I'm just not that good. '.
