Stipe Miocic has chosen Stone Cold Stipe Miocic Theme Song as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Oleg Ljashko has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Illya Tyunina and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ljashko swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Ljashko takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
We've been told by Ljashko's head coaches at Russian Top Team Elite Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Ljashko stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stipe Miocic swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Ljashko wants to stand but Stipe Miocic has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Stipe Miocic has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ljashko can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Ljashko is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Ljashko gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Stipe Miocic swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Ljashko steps into range and cracks Stipe Miocic with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Stipe Miocic flops backwards and Ljashko dives into his guard looking to finish!

Ljashko is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Stipe Miocic seems to have recovered his senses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Stipe Miocic is looking for a triangle but Ljashko pushes his legs off easily.

Ljashko gets to his feet - Stipe Miocic follows without any prompting.

and Ljashko counters with a leg kick.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Ljashko's corner calls for a 1-2. Ljashko obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Stipe Miocic wants to get back to striking at distance but Ljashko won't allow it.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ljashko's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ljashko gets through Stipe Miocic's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Ljashko tries to stall but Stipe Miocic uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Ljashko escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Stipe Miocic counters with a one-two to the body.

Ljashko stuns Stipe Miocic with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Ljashko bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Stipe Miocic! He dives into his guard looking to finish!
Ljashko wants to get up but he can't break Stipe Miocic's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Ljashko stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Stipe Miocic looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
It looked like Ljashko wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Ljashko throws an overhand right that drops Stipe Miocic like a sack of potatoes! Ljashko dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Oleg Ljashko!
