Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thomas Buffel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Stephan Kastner!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Paulo Santos and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kastner closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Buffel tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Kastner is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Buffel pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Buffel managing to block the knees to the body from Kastner.
Kastner prevents Buffel from breaking the clinch.

Buffel drags the fight down to the ground.
Kastner stops Buffel from standing up.
Buffel tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Buffel looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Buffel wants to sweep here but Kastner controlling him for the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kastner wants to control from the top but Buffel keeps moving.
Kastner slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kastner stands up and waves to Buffel to follow him.
Kastner should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Kastner forces Buffel back against the cage and clinches.

Buffel pulls guard effortlessly.
Kastner looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Buffel controlling the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Buffel working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kastner doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kastner manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Buffel wants to stand but Kastner is controlling the position.
Buffel has control of Kastner's left arm, preventing Kastner from doing any damage.
Buffel has a closed guard, preventing Kastner from standing up.
Kastner wants to pass the guard but Buffel is keeping the position.
Buffel lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Buffel drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Buffel seems to have locked his on tight now - Kastner screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Buffel, as he picks up the win!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Thomas Buffel!
