PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Doe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jt Austin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Doe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 1, fighting out of New York, Jt Austin!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, John Roberts and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Austin avoids the head kick by Doe.
A nice inside leg kick there by Austin. That's going to slow Doe down.
Doe moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Austin has a takedown stuffed.
Doe misses with a takedown attempt
and Austin counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Doe attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Doe cracks the inside of Austin's front leg.
Austin lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Doe is breathing heavily.
Doe drops his hands momentarily and Austin takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Austin looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Doe!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Austin cracks Doe with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Austin has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Doe's face.

Austin with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Doe is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Doe is in all sorts of trouble here.

Austin looking to secure an arm triangle but Doe defends it well.

Austin is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Austin lands a lovely overhand right.
Austin misses with a jab, cross combination.
Doe tries to bum rush Austin with a series of wild strikes but Austin uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Austin drives through and clinches with Doe against the cage.
Austin stops a takedown attempt from Doe.
Doe has a couple of punches blocked by Austin.
Doe wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Austin has him pressed against the cage.
Doe is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Austin breaks the clinch.
Austin fails to land with a series of punches.
Austin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Doe tries to avoid it but Austin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Doe to the ground. Doe escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Austin closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Austin moves nicely into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Austin decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Austin drives through with a takedown into guard.
Austin postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Austin stands up from Doe's guard - Austin perhaps looking for a knockout.
Doe misses with a leg kick
and Austin counters with a nice uppercut.
Austin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Doe's waist but Doe gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Austin off to one side.
John Doe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jt Austin.
Doe moves into range and connects with a jab.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Austin gets a clinch.

Austin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Austin fails with an attempt to clinch.
Austin blocks a leg kick.
Doe connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Austin's hands.
Austin looks to land a body kick but Doe moved away.
Austin lands a head shot.
Austin dodges the punch combination from Doe.
John Doe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Doe scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Doe falls off balance throwing a combination

and Austin counters with a single leg into guard. Doe didn't expect that.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Doe tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Austin wants to control from the top but Doe keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jt Austin dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Doe throws a left and a right that both miss

and Austin counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Doe!
Austin fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Austin has hold of Doe's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Doe manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Doe is in a horrible position here. Austin smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Doe is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Austin manages to capitalize on a mistake by Doe to take his back!

Austin is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Doe with him. Doe is trying to defend but Austin has an arm under the chin now! Doe grimaces and is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jt Austin!
