PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Oswaldo Boyle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vaino Siitaari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Oswaldo Boyle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Vaino Siitaari!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Anni Minnemäki and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Siitaari shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Siitaari was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Boyle really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Boyle wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Siitaari is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Boyle's half guard.

Boyle has his foot on Siitaari's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Siitaari works his way back into a safe position though.

Boyle is looking for a sweep. Siitaari is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Siitaari in particular looking to stall.

Siitaari is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Boyle to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Boyle shrugs it off.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Vaino Siitaari dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Siitaari shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Boyle is trying to defend but Siitaari finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Siitaari lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Boyle is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Siitaari's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Siitaari's back!

Boyle looking to break Siitaari's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Siitaari remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Boyle will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Siitaari just trying to survive but Boyle is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Boyle has the hooks in. Siitaari is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Siitaari manages to reverse the position and now he's in Boyle's guard. Nice work there by Siitaari.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Siitaari closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Siitaari is looking to take a break and control but Boyle is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The referee asks Siitaari politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Siitaari prefers to stall for the moment though.

Boyle is not content to let Siitaari control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boyle manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Boyle has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Siitaari is on him like a limpet, forcing Boyle back against the cage.

Siitaari ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Siitaari no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Boyle decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Siitaari, up you get!

Siitaari throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Boyle tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Siitaari is in Boyle's guard.

Well, if Siitaari is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Siitaari stalling away here and it's allowed Boyle to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Boyle controls Siitaari momentarily but Siitaari frees himself.

Vaino Siitaari showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Siitaari fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Boyle sprawls well initially but Siitaari persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Boyle throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Siitaari escapes and throws Boyle's legs to the side, diving into side control!

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Siitaari decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Boyle pushes Siitaari off but Siitaari dives into side control.

Oswaldo Boyle has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Vaino Siitaari is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Boyle tries to reverse the position but Siitaari maintains control.

Vaino Siitaari comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Siitaari winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
