Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Elwood Barber!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Finn Balor!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shirou Masuda and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Balor throws a low kick, looking for Barber's leg but Barber calmly moves out of range.
A head kick misses from Balor.
Balor tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Barber defends well and Balor ends up having to push Barber into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Barber has closed the distance and engaged Balor in a clinch.
Barber gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Balor.
Balor has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Barber avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Elwood Barber has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Finn Balor.

Barber's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Barber rushes Balor and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Barber lands a hook that snaps the head of Balor backwards.

Barber is looking for a kimura but Balor is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Barber to get the leverage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Barber decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Balor, up you get!
Finn Balor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Barber works Balor's body with a nice hook.
Barber digs a good body shot into Balor's ribs.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Balor.
Barber changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Barber looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Balor with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Barber decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Barber rushes Balor and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Barber breaks from the clinch.
Balor shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Barber sprawls well. Barber wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Balor gets slowly back to his feet.
Balor throws a body punch but Barber moves out of range.
Barber shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Balor manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Balor looking for a guillotine here but Barber defends easily.

Barber slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Barber feints and as Balor raises his hands in defense, Barber changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Balor wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Barber manages to pass to side control.

Barber shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Balor eats them both and turns towards Barber to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Barber has picked Balor up - he's going for a ride! Barber dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Barber in particular looking to stall.

Balor throws an elbow that misses. Barber uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Balor's guard. Nice move by Barber!
