Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carlo Lott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Helmeri Haapasaari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Carlo Lott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Helmeri Haapasaari!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Johanna Lukiainen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Haapasaari looking to score a takedown here. Lott is defending well but Haapasaari drives through and ends up in Lott's guard.
Lott is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Haapasaari postures up.
Haapasaari trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Lott manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lott pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Haapasaari is keeping the position for now.

Haapasaari looking for a guillotine here but Lott defends easily.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Haapasaari can do anything to dispel that myth.

Haapasaari has his foot on Lott's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lott works his way back into a safe position though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lott drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lott jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Haapasaari fails with the takedown.
Lott throws a chopping leg kick but Haapasaari manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Lott closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Lott wants to lay and pray for a moment but Haapasaari keeps working.
Haapasaari takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Haapasaari is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Lott tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lott has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Haapasaari can't do much from the bottom here.
Lott wants to control but Haapasaari is keeping him busy.
Lott tries to score with some ground and pound. Haapasaari controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Haapasaari is positioning himself well to prevent Lott advancing to mount.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Haapasaari tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lott sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Haapasaari somewhat.
Lott is looking for a counter combo.

Haapasaari closes the distance and clinches.
Lott fails to pull guard.

Haapasaari must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lott doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Haapasaari postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Lott throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Haapasaari advances position into side control!

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Helmeri Haapasaari seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Haapasaari scores with a takedown into Lott's guard.

Lott has his feet on Haapasaari's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Haapasaari misses with a low kick.
Lott attempts a counter takedown but Haapasaari avoids it well and moves away.

That was a close round but I would say that Carlo Lott will probably get the nod.

Lott shoots in looking for a takedown but Haapasaari manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Lott's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Haapasaari closes the distance and pushes Lott back into the cage.

Lott throws a strike but Haapasaari rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Haapasaari has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Haapasaari drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Haapasaari trying to control but Lott is working from the bottom.
Haapasaari is in close to Lott's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Haapasaari wants to get up but he can't break Lott's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Lott might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Helmeri Haapasaari showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Haapasaari gets control of Lott's arms and successfully pulls guard. Haapasaari will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Haapasaari. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Haapasaari feints and as Lott raises his hands in defense, Haapasaari changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Haapasaari slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Helmeri Haapasaari comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Haapasaari has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
