Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Martin Rocher! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Francois La Poulet! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rocher changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. La Poulet looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. La Poulet throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land. Rocher wants to control but La Poulet is keeping him busy. La Poulet is positioning himself to get back to half guard. La Poulet gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. La Poulet tries to get to full guard but Rocher has control of the leg. La Poulet avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Rocher. Rocher is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and La Poulet defends it well. La Poulet is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. La Poulet moves in looking to clinch but Rocher pushes him off. La Poulet doesn't manage to clinch there - Rocher circles away.

That's one minute gone in the round. Rocher feints and as La Poulet raises his hands in defense, Rocher changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Rocher throwing strikes from guard but La Poulet blocks nicely. Rocher prevents La Poulet from getting back to his feet. La Poulet is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Rocher slips nicely into half guard. La Poulet is pressing down on Rocher's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Rocher is breathing heavily. La Poulet looking to control.
Rocher has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Rocher has gone for a leg lock! La Poulet slips out almost immediately though and dives into Rocher's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. La Poulet is pushing down on Rocher's leg trying to pass to half guard. Rocher is fighting to maintain full guard but La Poulet has managed to sneak the leg through. La Poulet is looking for a kimura here.

He'll be looking to tighten that up but La Poulet can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Rocher thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. La Poulet landing some decent shots from guard. La Poulet works a leg free and moves into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. La Poulet moves into full mount! Rocher won't be happy about that! La Poulet with the ground and pound from mount. La Poulet has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Rocher's face.
La Poulet lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Rocher is in all sorts of trouble here.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, La Poulet cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
La Poulet breaks from Rocher's wrist control and lands an elbow. La Poulet working for a submission but Rocher is keeping him at bay. Rocher is bucking up trying to escape but La Poulet cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Rocher keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Rocher tries to lock up and control but La Poulet gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. La Poulet can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rocher is looking to escape. Rocher tries to hold on but La Poulet postures up. Rocher is trying desperately to improve position. La Poulet lands a big elbow. La Poulet breaks from Rocher's wrist control and lands an elbow. Rocher is working to get back to half guard.

Francois La Poulet dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Rocher takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Rocher shoots in for a takedown but La Poulet shows good takedown defense. La Poulet tries to clinch but Rocher is having none of it. The fight moves into the clinch position. La Poulet pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. La Poulet tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Horrible takedown by La Poulet or perhaps it was just good defense by Rocher which made him look bad. Rocher fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rocher shoots in and drives through. La Poulet sprawls well. La Poulet tries to clinch up but Rocher circles away and keeps his distance. Rocher doesn't succeed with the takedown and La Poulet holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. La Poulet unloads a knee to the mid-section. Rocher lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. La Poulet has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Rocher regains guard immediately. La Poulet looking to pass the guard. La Poulet advances position into side control! Rocher is looking to reverse the position. La Poulet working the head and body with strikes. Rocher takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Rocher gets caught flat footed, as La Poulet shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Rocher looking for subs off his back but La Poulet has passed one foot through into half guard.

La Poulet throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Rocher controls La Poulet momentarily but La Poulet frees himself. Rocher manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Rocher has control of La Poulet's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and La Poulet regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Rocher lands with some vicious ground and pound - can La Poulet hang on? Rocher with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Francois La Poulet showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Rocher tightens his grip and picks La Poulet up, before dumping him to the ground. La Poulet manages to land in guard. La Poulet throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. La Poulet bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rocher's guard. La Poulet pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rocher is keeping the position for now. La Poulet stands up over Rocher, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Rocher looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

And that's the end of the fight! Francois La Poulet comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well La Poulet has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
