Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dan Fitzpatrick! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Muranda Kibawa! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Patrick Alders and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kibawa tries to close the distance and clinch but Fitzpatrick swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Kibawa tries to close the distance and clinch up but Fitzpatrick swats him away and circles back towards the center. Kibawa dives in and scores a takedown into Fitzpatrick's guard. Fitzpatrick pushes Kibawa off and gets back to his feet.
Muranda Kibawa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kibawa closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Fitzpatrick bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Fitzpatrick really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Kibawa is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Fitzpatrick's half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Fitzpatrick controlling the position for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Fitzpatrick controls Kibawa momentarily but Kibawa frees himself. Fitzpatrick is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kibawa is aware though and is defending well. Kibawa decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Fitzpatrick, up you get! Kibawa moves in looking to clinch but Fitzpatrick pushes him off. As Kibawa looks to move away, Fitzpatrick throws a big counter combo bu Kibawa just gets out of the way. Kibawa shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kibawa showed some decent athleticism there. Fitzpatrick manages to escape and get back to his feet! Kibawa shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Fitzpatrick is trying to defend but Kibawa finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Fitzpatrick makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Kibawa wants to pass to mount but Fitzpatrick is defending the position. Fitzpatrick works his way to full guard. Good work. Fitzpatrick is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Kibawa wants to control from the top but Fitzpatrick keeps moving.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Kibawa closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Fitzpatrick makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Dan Fitzpatrick will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Kibawa bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Fitzpatrick is rocked! Kibawa tries for a kimura but Fitzpatrick is defending well. Oh Fitzpatrick is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Kibawa decides to stand back up. Kibawa steps back and let's Fitzpatrick get back to his feet. Kibawa closes the distance looking for a takedown. Kibawa picks Fitzpatrick up and slams him brutally to the floor. Fitzpatrick is out! He's out cold! Wow, you don't see a finish like that every day!
