PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between William Kent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shiga Braun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Kent might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Fabolous- Imma Do It. On his way into the cage it seems that William Kent has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily William Kent seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shiga Braun!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kent closes the distance and clinches.

Kent escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Braun misses with a few strikes there.

Kent bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Kent misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Kent working the head and body with strikes.
Kent is looking to take a break and control but Braun is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Braun is looking for a sweep.
Braun is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Kent off and has taken his back!

Braun is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Braun has the hooks in. Kent is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Braun is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Kent is defending well though. Braun let's go of the attempt for now.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Kent holds on and takes a little breather.
Braun wants to control from the top but Kent keeps moving.
Kent throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Braun drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Kent manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Braun has Kent in his guard.

Braun has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kent can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Braun looking for a sweep. Not yet Braun, not yet.
Kent connects with a couple of short punches.

Braun is working an open guard so Kent takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Braun lands a head kick!

Kent has taken the fight to the clinch.
Braun wants to get back to striking at distance but Kent won't allow it.

Kent is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Braun can't fight it off and eventually Kent manages to take the fight to the floor. Braun looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kent stands and steps away. Braun gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

and Braun counters with a nice leg kick.
Braun throws a series of strikes that have Kent backpedaling.
Kent shoots in for a takedown but Braun shows good takedown defense.

and Kent counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Kent.
Kent has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Braun wants to sweep here but Kent controlling him for the moment.

and Kent counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Braun's guard now.

Kent wants to control from the top but Braun keeps moving.
Braun looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Kent puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Braun is trying to maintain the position but Kent is very close to passing his half guard.

Braun has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kent is working away from the top position though.

Kent seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Braun does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kent keeps the fight on the outside.
William Kent is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Kent closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kent lands in his opponent's guard.
Kent prevents Braun from getting back to his feet.

Kent avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Braun controls Kent momentarily but Kent frees himself.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

No joy there for Braun, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kent throws a lazy head kick
and Braun makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Kent really felt that one!
Braun tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kent swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Braun scores with a one two! Kent had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Kent slips a nice elbow through Braun's hands, connecting with Braun's forehead.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Kent decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Braun scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Braun throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Braun thows a body kick. Kent tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Braun misses with a jab, cross combination.

Kent decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Braun moves into full guard.

Kent gets to his feet - Braun follows without any prompting.
Braun tries to clinch up

and Kent counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Braun wants to control but Kent is keeping busy.
Kent is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Braun tries to roll over but Kent keeps him under control.
Braun is trying to control but can't.
Kent lands with a punch from half guard.
Braun tries to get to full guard but Kent has control of the leg.

Kent working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Braun clinches but Kent breaks the clinch

Well, if Kent is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Kent lands a nice short elbow.

Kent thows a big elbow that misses.

Braun is pushing down on Kent's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kent is fighting to maintain full guard but Braun has managed to sneak the leg through.
Shiga Braun has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Braun wants to stand but Kent has his arm trapped.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kent, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
