Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rafael Misiek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Masahiko Kimura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Misiek comes to the cage accompanied by El Picante. Kimura is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: STORM by the Yoshida Brothers. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
18 - 17 - 2, fighting out of New York, Rafael Misiek!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Masahiko Kimura!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Misiek scoring well with a low kick there.
Misiek defending well as Kimura loads up on a big left hand.
Kimura misses with a few strikes there.
Kimura doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Kimura throws an off balance right hand
and Misiek counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Misiek tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kimura sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Misiek somewhat.
The fight moves into the clinch position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A bit of stalling here from Misiek.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Misiek's face as he tries to break the clinch.
The referee is keeping an eye on Kimura - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Kimura tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Misiek manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Misiek throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kimura.
Misiek displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Kimura throws out the jab.

Misiek lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Kimura backs up against the cage.
The fighters circle momentarily. Kimura darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Misiek tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kimura swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Kimura pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Misiek back to the cage. Kimura follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Kimura is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Misiek.
Misiek appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Kimura gets caught napping as Misiek dives in and scores a takedown. Kimura manages to retain guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kimura is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Misiek tries to kick Kimura off but Kimura keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kimura content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Kimura is pressing down on Misiek's thigh, looking to free his foot. Misiek is holding on for now.
Misiek is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Misiek is trying to stand back up but Kimura is controlling him
Misiek gets back to full guard.
Kimura stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Misiek swivels though and keeps the full guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Rafael Misiek will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Misiek is looking to clinch but Kimura is avoiding it.
Kimura drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Misiek defends it well.
Kimura doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Misiek throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Kimura! But no joy.
Kimura dodges the punch combination from Misiek.

and Kimura connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Kimura throws a shot from downtown. Misiek moves away and avoids it.
Kimura shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Misiek throws a looping overhand right but Kimura ducks down to avoid it.

Kimura shoots in and bounces Misiek off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kimura throws an elbow that misses. Misiek uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kimura's guard. Nice move by Misiek!
Misiek wants to control from the top but Kimura keeps moving.

Kimura wants to sweep but no luck.
Misiek throws a strike but Kimura rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Misiek is trying to control the position but Kimura postures up.
My spies in LOD: Xtreme MMA inform me that Kimura has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Misiek wants to improve his position but instead Kimura has moved into half guard.
Misiek pushes Kimura off looking to stand but Kimura dives back in and keeps control.
Kimura is keen to just control but Misiek is a slippery customer.
