Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Eddy Edwards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodrigo Cabral (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Eddy Edwards! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rodrigo Cabral! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Ivan Kurochkin and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Edwards on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Cabral. Cabral obviously looking to wear him down.
Edwards lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Cabral uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Edwards.
Edwards closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Edwards lands in his opponent's guard. Cabral is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Edwards accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Edwards showing good wrestling skills to control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cabral trying to keep a closed guard but Edwards is proving a slippery customer.

Cabral is trying to maintain the position but Edwards is very close to passing his half guard. Edwards slips a nice elbow through Cabral's hands, connecting with Cabral's forehead. Edwards takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Edwards sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Cabral defending well though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Edwards is thwarting Cabral's attempts to control the position. Cabral avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Edwards. Ground and pound from Edwards. Cabral blocking the ground and pound attempt from Edwards. Edwards is keen to just control but Cabral is a slippery customer. Edwards is controlling the pace.
Cabral is looking for a sweep. Edwards is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Edwards is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Cabral is trying to control but can't.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Edwards is trying to control. Cabral wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Edwards lands a nice short elbow. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A leg kick checked by Edwards. Cabral gets off balance looking for a body kick and Edwards counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Edwards. Edwards with a nice head shot there. Edwards is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Edwards working some strikes from top position. Edwards stopping the sweep attempt from Cabral. Cabral has Edwards pulled in close to control his posture. Edwards trying to control but Cabral is working from the bottom. Edwards throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cabral works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Edwards stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cabral swivels though and keeps the full guard. Edwards trying to control the position from guard on top but Cabral is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Edwards keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Cabral's head. Cabral is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Cabral preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Cabral wants to control but Edwards passes easily into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Edwards takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Edwards is keen to just control but Cabral is a slippery customer. Cabral on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Edwards seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Cabral does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Edwards winds up and cracks Cabral with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Edwards trying to control the action but Cabral is working from the bottom. Edwards lands with a punch from half guard. Edwards working over Cabral with some ground and pound. Cabral looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Edwards not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Cabral wants to control but Edwards is keeping busy.

Can Edwards finish him? Edwards lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Cabral quite badly. Cabral pulls Edwards in close trying to recover. Edwards postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Cabral on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Cabral doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Eddy Edwards! Eddy Edwards was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
