Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jarik Belson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
27 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jason Yee! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Belson throws a hook but Yee avoids it easily. Belson throws out a loose jab but Yee uses good head movement to avoid it. Belson has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Yee takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Belson defending well as Yee loads up on a big left hand. We've been informed that Yee has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Yee cracks Belson with a right hand to the side of the head. Yee walks into a jab. Belson keeps the fight on the outside. A little feinted left hand from Belson on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Yee swinging wildly here.
It looked like Belson wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Yee tries to sprawl but Belson drives through with a takedown into half guard. Yee gets back to full guard.
This has been an exciting period of action! A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Yee holds on and takes a little breather. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Belson won't allow Yee to sweep him here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Belson tries to free his leg and advance position but Yee is retaining full guard. Belson wants to control from the top but Yee keeps moving. Yee looking to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Yee pulls Belson in to control the position. Belson drops back looking for a leg! Yee is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Yee manages to kick Belson off! Belson jumps back into Yee's guard. Yee is pulling down on Belson's head to control his posture. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Belson tries to free his leg and advance position but Yee is retaining full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Yee keeping moving, preventing Belson from controlling successfully.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Nice sprawl there from Yee as Belson shoots in. Belson gets a double leg takedown into Yee's guard. Belson drops back looking for a leg! Yee is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Yee manages to kick Belson off! Belson jumps back into Yee's guard. Belson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Yee wants to sweep but no luck. Yee preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Belson trying to control but Yee is working from the bottom. Yee seems keen to control Belson's posture. Belson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Belson throws a big right hand that misses. Belson postures up.

The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Yee looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Yee! Yee remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Belson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Yee takes a little break here. Belson wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Belson is not content to let Yee control the position. A lull in the action here as Yee stalls from top position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Belson gets back to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jarik Belson will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Yee takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Yee takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Belson misses with a straight left. Belson scores with a jab. Yee misses with a straight right. Yee throws a series of punches but Belson avoids them all with ease. Belson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Yee but Yee pushes him off and we're back to square one. Belson throws a hook but Yee blocks it. Yee misses with an uppercut. Belson slips under a jab. Belson closes the distance and clinches up with Yee, looking for a takedown. Belson pushes Yee against the cage but Yee circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Belson keeps the fight on the outside. Sloppy strikes from Yee. Those never looked like landing. Belson lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Horrible takedown attempt by Belson or perhaps it was just good defense by Yee, which made it look bad. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jarik Belson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Belson lands with a straight right. Yee didn't see that one coming.
That's one minute gone in the round. Yee lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Belson circles away quickly and effectively. Belson throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Yee on the side of the head. Yee on the wrong end of a nice jab. Yee uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Belson.
Belson keeps the fight on the outside. Belson shoots in looking for a takedown. Yee tries to sprawl out of it but Belson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Yee manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Yee scores with a nice right hand.
Yee on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Yee fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Belson, pushing him back against the cage. Yee swings wildly with an uppercut but Belson uses good head movement to avoid it. Yee stops a takedown attempt from Belson.
Yee gets through Belson's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Yee lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Belson backwards.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A head punch blocked on the inside by Belson. Yee lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Belson backwards. Yee lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Yee throws a head punch that misses. Belson throws a punch but it's blocked by Yee. Yee tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Belson tries to break free but Yee pushes him back against the cage. Yee lands a right hand that snaps the head of Belson backwards. Belson jumps guard but Yee turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Yee makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Yee prevents a takedown attempt there.

Belson is rocked! Yee tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Yee working some nice short punches in the clinch. Oh Belson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! A body shot lands from Belson.
Belson takes an elbow to the forehead. A short right hand to the side of the head by Yee. Yee lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Yee lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Belson lands a hook to the side of the head. Yee creates some distance for himself and unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Belson's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Belson drops to his knees and Yee pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
