Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jospeh Clay! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rino Gustafson! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Gwen Towbar and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gustafson scores with a takedown into Clay's guard. Gustafson engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Gustafson tries to free his leg and advance position but Clay is retaining full guard. Gustafson won't allow Clay to get back to his feet. Gustafson landing with the ground and pound. Gustafson postures up in Clay's guard and throws a big left but Clay blocks it. Gustafson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Clay working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Gustafson. Gustafson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Clay on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Gustafson trying to mount his opponent but Clay defends it. Gustafson slips a nice elbow through Clay's hands, connecting with Clay's forehead. Gustafson seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Clay wants to get back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gustafson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Clay with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Gustafson is figuring out what he wants to do next. Clay is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gustafson connects with a nice short shot to Clay's temple. Gustafson trying to control the action but Clay is working from the bottom. Gustafson prevents Clay from improving his position. Gustafson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Gustafson working Clay over with strikes. Clay is trying to stand.
Gustafson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Ground and pound from Gustafson. Clay taking some punishment here, with Gustafson in his half guard. Clay has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Gustafson is on him like a limpet, forcing Clay back against the cage. Gustafson has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Clay clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Gustafson trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Gustafson is riding his opponent, not letting Clay buck him off. Clay is looking to stand back up. He's having to work hard to escape but eventually he manages it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gustafson shoots in and gets a takedown into Clay's guard. Gustafson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gustafson prevents Clay from getting back to his feet. Clay is breathing heavily. Gustafson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Clay keeping moving, preventing Gustafson from controlling successfully. Gustafson postures up and lands a big shot to Clay's brow. Clay avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Clay avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Gustafson stops Clay from standing up. Clay preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Clay wants to get back to his feet but Gustafson is in a dominant position and won't allow it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rino Gustafson dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Gustafson gets a takedown into half guard. Gustafson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Gustafson landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Gustafson frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Gustafson looking to secure an arm triangle but Clay defends it well. Gustafson lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Clay is rocked! Gustafson wants to finish this one by submission but Clay is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Gustafson. Oh Clay is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Clay is bucking up trying to escape but Gustafson cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Gustafson loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Clay scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Gustafson land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Gustafson stands and salutes the crowd.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rino Gustafson! After winning the bout, Rino Gustafson thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
