Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pops Maellard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Asztalos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slapping body kick lands there for Maellard.
Asztalos ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Sloppy strikes from Asztalos. Those never looked like landing.

Maellard takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Maellard cracks Asztalos with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Asztalos connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Maellard momentarily.
Maellard drops his hands momentarily and Asztalos takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Asztalos's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Maellard connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Asztalos scrambles back to his feet.

Maellard is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Maellard moves forwards but Asztalos connects with a nice, crisp jab.
A looping hook to the body misses from Asztalos. Maellard does a little dance to reset his feet.

and Maellard counters with a left and a right that stings Asztalos.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Maellard lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Asztalos has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Asztalos and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Asztalos misses with an uppercut. Maellard saw that one coming.

Asztalos swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Maellard is looking to counter with head kicks.
Asztalos has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Maellard.

Asztalos on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Asztalos feints and then cracks Maellard's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Maellard down.
Asztalos misses with a low kick as Maellard jumps back.
Maellard stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Asztalos.
Maellard plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Asztalos is rocked!
Asztalos throws a lazy uppercut
and Maellard counters with a deadly accurate combination that rocks Asztalos badly! He tries to strike back but Maellard puts an end to that with another precision combo that knocks Asztalos out cold! Oh man, Asztalos will never hear the end of this one!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Pops Maellard!
