Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Troy Jacobsen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stelio Kontos!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, David Schapiro and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kontos lunges at Jacobsen with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Jacobsen's hand.


It looks like Troy Jacobsen has been cut.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jacobsen.
Kontos wants to counter with a clinch but Jacobsen pushes him away.
Kontos throws a lazy right hand but Jacobsen sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

and Kontos counters by moving into the clinch.
A short right from Kontos on the inside.
Jacobsen goes for a takedown attempt but Kontos pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Jacobsen slips a jab from Kontos.
Jacobsen misses with a straight right.
Kontos lands a jab.
Kontos misses with a double jab.
Kontos misses with a right hand
and Jacobsen counters with a left to the body.
Jacobsen slips a jab and a cross from Kontos.
Jacobsen cracks the inside of Kontos's front leg.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kontos stuffs the takedown attempt from Jacobsen. Jacobsen gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Troy Jacobsen. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kontos jabs Jacobsen right on the nose. Jacobsen blinks but takes it well.
Kontos lands with an overhand left.
Kontos throws a right hand that Jacobsen ducks under and follows up with a left that Jacobsen also avoids with ease.
Jacobsen was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Kontos missing with a left hand there. Jacobsen was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Jacobsen appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.

Kontos misses with a hook

and Jacobsen counters with a shoot takedown. Kontos fights it but they end up in guard.
Kontos can't keep his opponent in guard - Jacobsen advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Kontos is looking for a sweep. Jacobsen is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Kontos is trying to control but can't.
Jacobsen is looking to take a break and control but Kontos is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kontos is doing well to control the position and prevent Jacobsen from advancing to side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Jacobsen seems to be looking for submissions.
Jacobsen seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kontos does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Jacobsen looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Jacobsen is trying to control the action in half guard but Kontos is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Jacobsen wants to control but Kontos is keeping him busy.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Jacobsen bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Kontos misses with a lunging right hand

and Jacobsen counters with a takedown into side control.
Jacobsen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kontos keeps working.
Jacobsen remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Kontos tries to improve position but can't.
Kontos tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Kontos is squirming around, avoiding Jacobsen's attempts to control the action.

Jacobsen goes for an armbar but Kontos turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Kontos.
My spies in LOD - Phoenix Mixed Martial Arts inform me that Kontos has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Kontos stands up from Jacobsen's guard - Kontos perhaps looking for a knockout.
Kontos might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Kontos connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Jacobsen's hands.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stelio Kontos dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Troy Jacobsen's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Kontos throws an off balance right hand
and Jacobsen counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Kontos shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Jacobsen eats them both and turns towards Kontos to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Kontos swings for the body but Jacobsen moves out of range.
Jacobsen just misses with a punch to the body.
Kontos takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Kontos has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Jacobsen misses the jab.
Kontos lands a nice shot that snaps Jacobsen's head back.


Jacobsen is rocked!
Kontos throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Oh Jacobsen is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Nice cross by Kontos.
Today's fight clock is brought to you by... OOOH that's a huge shot by Kontos! Jacobsen is in big trouble here - the ref steps in to save him and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Stelio Kontos!
Stelio Kontos took to the mic after the fight and begged the organizational hierarchy for a shot at the title.
The defeated Troy Jacobsen had this to say: 'I'll just have to work harder, become better, and return to kick some more ass. You'll be seeing me soon.'.
