Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mohamed Abdul! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tomasz Jr Rzasa! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Daniel Cesar and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rzasa fails with the takedown. Rzasa fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Rzasa tries to clinch up. Rzasa tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Rzasa closes the distance and pushes Abdul back into the cage. Rzasa breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Abdul looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Abdul tries to pass to full mount but Rzasa defends it. Rzasa regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Abdul. Rzasa looking to control.
Abdul throws a strike but Rzasa rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Abdul working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rzasa doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rzasa manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Abdul might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. This has been an exciting period of action! Abdul has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rzasa can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rzasa tries to free his leg and advance position but Abdul is retaining full guard. Abdul wants to sweep here but Rzasa controlling him for the moment. Abdul has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Abdul preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Rzasa wants to pass the guard but Abdul is keeping the position. Abdul could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Rzasa working some strikes from top position. That's two minutes gone in the round. Rzasa stopping the sweep attempt from Abdul. Abdul escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rzasa gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Abdul not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Abdul is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Rzasa defends well. Rzasa stands up from Abdul's guard - Rzasa perhaps looking for a knockout. Rzasa clinches up with Abdul and pushes him back against the cage. Rzasa dodges an elbow strike from Abdul.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Abdul is trying to pull guard but Rzasa turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Abdul pulls guard. Rzasa preventing the sweep. Abdul is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Abdul keeping moving, preventing Rzasa from controlling successfully. Abdul looking to control.
Rzasa pushing down on Abdul's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Abdul is controlling Rzasa's trapped leg to prevent Rzasa from advancing to side control. Abdul wants to control but Rzasa passes into side.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Abdul is looking for a sweep. Rzasa tries to move into full mount but can't pass Abdul's legs. Rzasa wants to lay and pray for a moment but Abdul keeps working. Rzasa misses with the ground and pound. Rzasa trying to control the position but Abdul is working away. Rzasa throws a strike aimed at the side of Abdul's head but Abdul avoids it well. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Abdul is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Rzasa off and has taken his back! Rzasa fending off the submission attempt from Abdul. Rzasa is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Abdul tries to clinch up but Rzasa circles away and keeps his distance. Abdul darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Rzasa strikes from the bottom but Abdul uses the opportunity to move to side control.
Abdul is looking to take a break and control but Rzasa is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Abdul is trying to get an arm triangle but Rzasa is defending well. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rzasa is trying to control Abdul's posture but Abdul avoids it. Rzasa wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
That's one minute gone in the round. Rzasa gets back to half guard. Abdul uses his free foot to push down on Rzasa's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Rzasa. Rzasa is looking to get to half guard. Abdul is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Rzasa can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Abdul jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Rzasa is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Rzasa and Abdul has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Rzasa is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Abdul is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Abdul wants to take his opponent's back but Rzasa doesn't allow it. Abdul trying to control but Rzasa is having none of it. Abdul controlling the pace for now. Rzasa is looking to get to half guard.

Abdul stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Abdul wants it to stay on the feet. Abdul shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Abdul is looking to advance position but Rzasa won't allow it. Abdul is looking to take a break and control but Rzasa is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Rzasa lands a slapping body shot.
Abdul closes the distance and clinches. Abdul tries to land knees in the clinch but Rzasa avoids the damage to the body. Abdul blocks a body shot from Rzasa. Rzasa lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Abdul is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Rzasa to keep the fight standing. Rzasa pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Rzasa shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Abdul but Abdul pushes him off and we're back to square one. Rzasa takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Abdul feints and as Rzasa raises his hands in defense, Abdul changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Rzasa not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Tomasz Jr Rzasa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Abdul closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Rzasa tries to bench press Abdul off him but Abdul keeps the position. Abdul tries for a kimura but Rzasa is defending well. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Abdul is trying to get an arm triangle but Rzasa is defending well.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Mohamed Abdul! In his post fight interview, Mohamed Abdul started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
