PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rodrigo Rojas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Warring (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Rojas might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Apaga Mas Não Bate. The crowd seem to be enjoying Warring's choice of entrance music: Lick my chocolate salty balls live by chef from South Park. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Rodrigo Rojas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marcus Warring!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Phil Schofield and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rojas is looking to clinch but Warring is avoiding it.
Rojas shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Warring pinned against the cage. Warring gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Rojas looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Warring buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Warring throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rojas is trying hard to land a takedown here. Warring sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
The crowd cheers as Warring lands an impressive looking overhand right. Rojas doesn't seem phased though.
Warring has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Warring.
A nice inside leg kick there by Warring. That's going to slow Rojas down.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Warring throws a head kick but Rojas moves out of range.
Warring lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Rojas shoots in looking for a takedown. Warring tries to sprawl out of it but Rojas keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Warring manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rodrigo Rojas. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rojas cracks Warring with a right hand to the side of the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A nice inside leg kick there by Warring. That's going to slow Rojas down.
Rojas avoids the head kick by Warring.
Rojas is looking to clinch but Warring is avoiding it.
Warring misses with a looping left.
Marcus Warring seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rojas darts in looking for a takedown but Warring gets double underhooks and turns Rojas into the cage.
A jab lands there for Warring.
Rojas shoots in but no luck this time.
Warring throws out a counter right but Rojas avoids it with no problem.
Rojas checks a leg kick nicely.
Warring pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Warring connects with a solid leg kick.
Rojas takes a head kick and keeps coming.
The fighters circling - Warring throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Rojas looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Warring misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Marcus Warring is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Rojas with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Warring to score with a decent uppercut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Warring misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Rojas is looking to counter the offense by Warring and move into the clinch.
Rojas fails in his attempt to clinch.
Warring lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Warring fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Rojas.
Warring throws a solid leg kick but Rojas takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Warring.
Warring feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Rojas's calf.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rojas is defended easily by Warring.
Warring throws a sloppy head kick and Rojas moves out of range easily.

Rojas drives through and clinches with Warring against the cage.
Warring blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Warring is trying to break free.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rojas swings wildly with an uppercut but Warring uses good head movement to avoid it.
Warring wants to break free but Rojas has control.

Rojas successfully pulls guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rojas is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Warring is aware though and is defending well.
Warring is looking to stand up but Rojas won't let him.
Rojas wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Warring wants to get up but he can't break Rojas's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Rojas is looking to cinch up a triangle. Warring throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Rojas's body to avoid the submission. Rojas has instead reached around Warring's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Rojas arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Rodrigo Rojas!
Rodrigo Rojas very nearly forgot to thank Alcatraz Apparel amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
Marcus Warring was interviewed post fight and said 'I'm done in mma'.
