Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Edgar Cano! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 7 - 1, fighting out of London, Tim Woods! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Ackerman and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Horrible takedown attempt by Cano or perhaps it was just good defense by Woods, which made it look bad. Woods lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Cano takes a body punch but keeps moving. Woods cracks a nice hook into Cano's ribs. Woods fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Cano on the side of the head. Cano fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Woods sprawls well initially but Cano persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Cano is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Cano is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Woods can do anything to dispel that myth. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cano is looking for a kimura here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Woods won't allow Cano to pass to mount. Woods is concentrating on defense, preventing Cano from advancing position. Cano trying to mount his opponent but Woods defends it. Cano seems to be looking for submissions.
Cano is looking to advance position but Woods won't allow it. Woods is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Woods tries to get to full guard but Cano has control of the leg.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Cano works his way into full mount! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cano working for a submission but Woods is keeping him at bay. Cano is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Woods can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Cano pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
Cano wants to finish this one by submission but Woods is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Cano. Woods is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cano has control of Woods's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Woods regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Cano fails to move to back control. Cano has hold of Woods's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Woods manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Woods tries to get back to half guard but can't. Cano looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Cano is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Woods to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Woods shrugs it off.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cano wants to finish this one by submission but Woods is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Cano. Cano is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Cano extends the arm and Woods is forced to tap!
