Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Dave Kopp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dale La Grande (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Dave Kopp! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dale La Grande! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Sam Margolis and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! La Grande tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Kopp manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. La Grande fails with an attempt to clinch.
La Grande closes the distance but Kopp moves to the side and Kopp counters with a takedown into side control. Kopp working the body and head with strikes. Kopp tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Kopp working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Kopp throws an elbow but La Grande slips to the side and avoids it well. La Grande managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Kopp.
Kopp fails to land a wild elbow strike.
La Grande defending against the ground and pound. Kopp looks up at the clock and then as La Grande takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Kopp smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
La Grande dodges the ground and pound from Kopp. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Kopp throws an elbow but La Grande slips to the side and avoids it well. Kopp lands an elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kopp sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but La Grande is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Kopp tries to move to mount but La Grande blocks the move with his legs. Kopp tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kopp lands a nice forearm strike. Kopp throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and La Grande works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. Kopp throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Kopp working over La Grande with some ground and pound. La Grande looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Kopp winds up and cracks La Grande with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Kopp not landing any meaningful shots this time. Kopp lands strikes from half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kopp passes to side control. La Grande dodges the ground and pound from Kopp. Kopp working the ground and pound from side control. Kopp lands some shots froms side control.
La Grande is rocked! Kopp in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and La Grande looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Kopp turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dave Kopp! Our winner, Dave Kopp, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans. Dale La Grande was interviewed post fight and said 'Life's a BITCH!!!I mean a Beach...ohh and I will be back for the Title!'.
