The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ortega tries to clinch up. Ortega connects with a solid leg kick. Ortega tries to close the distance and clinch up but Farrar swats him away and circles back towards the center. Ortega wants to clinch up but Farrar keeps it at a distance. Farrar swats away the attempt to clinch by Ortega. Ortega is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Ortega scores with a kick to the midsection. Farrar looks gassed! Ortega moves in looking to clinch but Farrar pushes him off. Ortega tries to clinch but Farrar moves out of range. Ortega doesn't manage to clinch there - Farrar circles away.

A shot to de liver by Ortega. Beautiful body shot. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ortega tries to clinch up but Farrar circles away and keeps his distance. Ortega scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Ortega tries to clinch there but Farrar circles away.
Oooh a lovely combination from Ortega sends Farrar down but not out. Ortega dives into side control looking to finish. Ortega creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Farrar sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Ortega throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Farrar parries the strikes from Ortega easily there. Ortega is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Farrar to escape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ortega wants to lay and pray for a moment but Farrar keeps working. Ortega stands up and beckons Farrar to his feet. Ortega lands with a kick to the temple. Farrar shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Farrar looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Ortega punching from the bottom.
Ortega is looking to improve his position.
Ortega is trying to control but can't.
Farrar stalling. Ortega is trying to stand up here but Farrar is controlling him well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Farrar is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Farrar working the head and body with strikes. Ortega tries to kick Farrar off but Farrar keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Farrar closes the distance and clinches. Ortega with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Farrar tries to break the clinch but Ortega is controlling the position. Farrar works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Ortega trying to keep a closed guard but Farrar is proving a slippery customer.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Ortega tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Farrar not doing much here.
Farrar wants to free his trapped foot but Ortega is holding on for dear life with his legs. Ortega trying to control from the bottom.
Ortega is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control. Farrar looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Farrar lands strikes from half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Farrar fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ortega sprawls well initially but Farrar persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Farrar looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Farrar is looking to advance position but Ortega won't allow it. Farrar controlling the pace. Ortega is looking for a sweep. Farrar is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Ortega tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Ortega is striking from the bottom but he's now found himself mounted! Oh dear - not enough focus on defense there.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ortega tries to reverse the position but Farrar maintains control. Farrar takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alexandro Ortega dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Farrar shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Farrar showed some decent athleticism there. Ortega tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Farrar is trying to control the action in half guard but Ortega is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Ortega punching from the bottom.
Farrar gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Ortega shoots and misses and Farrar counters with a single leg into guard. Ortega didn't expect that. Ortega can't keep his opponent in guard - Farrar advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Farrar working the head and body with strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ortega trying to hold on to Farrar's head to control him but Farrar postures up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Farrar working Ortega over with strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ortega is trying to control but can't.
Farrar has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Farrar stalling. Farrar is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Ortega has managed to free his arm - good work. Ortega is trying to escape back to his feet but Farrar uses the scramble to pass into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. You can see the frustration on Ortega's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Ortega is trying to get back to his feet. Farrar creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Ortega wants to get back to his feet but Farrar is dominant here and he's now got Ortega's back! A bit of a pause in the action here. Farrar controlling the positon. Ortega is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Farrar gets his way!
Farrar doesn't have the hooks in and Ortega manages to turn into his guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ortega being controlled here momentarily. Ortega is looking to stand up but Farrar won't let him. Farrar looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Ortega trying to control but Farrar is working from the bottom. Farrar pulls Ortega in close to prevent any damage.

Jay Farrar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Ortega's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Farrar closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Ortega is trying to control Farrar's posture but Farrar avoids it. Farrar controls the position from side control. Jay Farrar has got the better of the ground game so far. Ortega tries to improve position but can't. Ortega wants to get back to his feet. Farrar decides to stand back up. Ortega wants to clinch but Farrar slips to the side and Farrar counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ortega won't be happy with that. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Ortega is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Farrar scoring with punches and elbows.
That's one minute gone in the round. Farrar prevents Ortega from escaping the position. Farrar is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Ortega's shoulder. That is not cool. Farrar decides to take the fight back to the feet. Farrar darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Ortega is trying to maintain the position but Farrar is very close to passing his half guard. Ortega wants to get back to full guard. Ortega is trying to control but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ortega is trying to stand back up but Farrar is controlling him

Farrar uses his free foot to push down on Ortega's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ortega. Farrar scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Ortega?
Farrar sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Let's hope that Farrar has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Farrar forces the positional change into back control. Ortega has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke. Farrar controlling the position well here. Ortega rolled but Farrar kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Ortega rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Ortega moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Farrar controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Farrar looking to pass the guard. Farrar makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Jay Farrar comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Farrar has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
