PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jules Green (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dean Ambrose (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ambrose has chosen dean ambrose theme as his entrance music. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jules Green!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dean Ambrose!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Thiago Cunha and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ambrose closes the distance but Green moves to the side

and Green counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Ambrose has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Green off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Ambrose shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ambrose showed some decent athleticism there.
Green is refusing to be controlled, as Ambrose sits in half guard.
Green moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Ambrose tries to free his leg and advance position but Green is retaining full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Green looking for a sweep. Not yet Green, not yet.

Green wants to hit a switch here but Ambrose passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Green there!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ambrose is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Green defends it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Green wants to improve his position but Ambrose is controlling well.
Green might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Green regains full guard. Nicely done.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Ambrose blocks a head kick by Green.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Green enables Ambrose to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Green manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Ambrose wants to control from the top but Green keeps moving.

Ambrose stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Ambrose seems keen to control Green's posture.

Ambrose has his foot on Green's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Green works his way back into a safe position though.

Ambrose darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Green moves into full guard.
Green wants to sweep here but Ambrose controlling him for the moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Green had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ambrose defends it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Ambrose thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Green tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Ambrose decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Green misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Ambrose drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ambrose jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Ambrose. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Green is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Green is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ambrose is just riding it out for now. Green eventually gives up the hold.

Green is working for a kimura but Ambrose is defending it quite comfortably.

Green is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Ambrose sees it coming and defends easily.

Ambrose lands with a nice body kick.
Nice sprawl there from Ambrose as Green shoots in.
Green takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Green changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ambrose looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Ambrose explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Green feints and as Ambrose raises his hands in defense, Green changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Dean Ambrose showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Green's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Green tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Ambrose manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Green lands a nice short elbow.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Green is looking for submissions but instead, Ambrose has regained full guard.
Green wants to pass the guard but Ambrose is keeping the position.

Green postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Ambrose is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Green, into his guard.

Green escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ambrose gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Ambrose won't allow Green to sweep him here.

Ambrose got a little sloppy there for a moment and Green has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ambrose has managed to get both his arms back between Green's legs - danger averted.
Green wants to sweep but no luck.

Ambrose wants to stand but Green has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Green looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Ambrose postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Green manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ambrose manages to get himself to full guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Ambrose can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Green controls the pace.

Dean Ambrose comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ambrose has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
