PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mills Biek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Zero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zero has chosen José the Bronx Rican - Spittin' Narcicism as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mills Biek!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Max Zero!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Winston Howard and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zero takes a kick to the side of the head.
Biek looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Zero wants to clinch.
Zero throws a head kick that looked like it stung.


It looks like Mills Biek has been cut.
Biek avoids a punch combination nicely.
Zero shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Biek pinned against the cage. Biek gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Zero takes the fight into the clinch.

Zero manages to break the clinch.

Zero scores with a takedown into Biek's guard.
Biek can't keep his opponent in guard - Zero advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Zero is taking a breather. Biek says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Zero is trying to control the action in half guard but Biek is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Biek is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Zero really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Biek.
Let's hope that Zero has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Zero working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Zero controls the action.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Zero is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Zero gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Zero gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Zero apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Mills Biek has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Zero.
Zero throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Zero gets a takedown into half guard.
Zero should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Zero moves into full mount! Biek won't be happy about that!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Zero goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Biek is on top in guard.
Zero looking for a sweep. Not yet Zero, not yet.
Zero can't keep his opponent in guard - Biek advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Zero is pressing down on Biek's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Biek gets to his feet. Zero looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Zero shoots for a takedown but Biek saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Max Zero dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Mills Biek's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Zero doesn't manage to clinch there - Biek circles away.
Zero shoots for a double leg takedown but Biek sprawls well. He's pushed Zero's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Zero closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Biek to the mat! Biek manages to get full guard.

Zero stands and steps away. Biek gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Zero rushes Biek and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Biek fails to pull guard.

Zero breaks from the clinch.
Zero misses with a jab, cross combination.
Zero tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Biek swivels and escapes.

Zero looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Biek!
Biek tries to hold on but Zero pushes him away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Zero with the ground and pound from mount.
Biek is trying to escape the mount.

Zero get's back to his feet.
Zero lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Biek backs up against the cage.
Zero shoots in for a double leg but Biek sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Mills Biek has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Zero.
Biek tries to close the distance and clinch but Zero swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Biek shoots in but no luck this time.
Biek keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Zero lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Mills Biek is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Biek gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Zero looking to pass the guard.
Biek has control of Zero's left arm, preventing Zero from doing any damage.
Biek looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Zero trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Zero trying to control but Biek is working from the bottom.
Biek keeping full guard, as Zero tries to pass.

Biek keeping moving, preventing Zero from controlling successfully.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Zero feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Zero is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Biek is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Biek has escaped and now he's on top!

Biek avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Zero trying to keep a closed guard but Biek is proving a slippery customer.
Max Zero has got the better of the ground game so far.
Zero is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Max Zero showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Biek clinches with his opponent.
Biek misses with a short punch on the inside.
Biek tries for a takedown but Zero manages to get underhooks.

Zero escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Biek circles away from the clinch attempt

and Biek holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Zero ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Zero no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Biek won't allow Zero to sweep him here.
Zero is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Zero has a closed guard, preventing Biek from standing up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Biek pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Zero is keeping the position for now.
Biek won't allow Zero to sweep him here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Zero misses with a takedown attempt - Biek sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Zero tries to clinch up.
Biek blocks a head kick by Zero.
Biek lands an overhand right.

Zero shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Biek wants to get back to full guard.

Biek is trying is best to control the position here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Zero looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Biek with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Biek is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Biek trying to control but Zero postures up.

Biek is looking for a sweep. Zero is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Biek swats away the attempt to clinch by Zero.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Zero slows down the pace here.

Zero manages to pull guard.
Biek postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Zero wants to sweep but no luck.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Zero is looking for a triangle but Biek pushes his legs off easily.
Zero looking to control.
Biek stops Zero from standing up.
Zero has his hands on Biek's head, controlling the position.

Zero is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Biek wants to get up but he can't break Zero's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Mills Biek has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Max Zero is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Biek postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

And that's the end of the fight!
Max Zero comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Zero winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
