Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Nathan Nelson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Deshawn Jackson! The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Daniel Franklin and Dirk Anderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson is looking to clinch but Nelson is avoiding it.
Nelson half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Nelson looks for a takedown but Jackson sprawls well. Nelson moves into the clinch. Nelson decides to pull guard. Nelson wants to sweep here but Jackson controlling him for the moment. Jackson wants to control from the top but Nelson keeps moving. Nelson wants to sweep but no luck. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jackson postures up.
Jackson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Nelson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Jackson, into his guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nelson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Jackson is trying to hold Nelson in close to prevent damage but Nelson has managed to pass into half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jackson. Nelson gets a double leg takedown into Jackson's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jackson keeping moving, preventing Nelson from controlling successfully. Nelson stands and throws Jackson's legs to the side, diving into side control. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Jackson tries to get back to half guard but can't. Nelson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Nelson throwing shots but missing, from side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nelson sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Jackson is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Nelson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jackson, who protects the arm well.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Nelson closes the distance and pushes Jackson back into the cage. Jackson tries to pull guard but Nelson holds him up against the cage and eventually Jackson drops back down to his feet.
Jackson jumps guard but Nelson turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Nathan Nelson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Deshawn Jackson. Jackson has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Nelson will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Jackson up against the cage. Jackson tries to stall but Nelson uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Jackson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Nelson walks away with a smile on his face. Jackson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Nelson misses with a jab, cross combination.
No luck for Nelson with that takedown attempt. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Nelson moves into range and clinches up with Jackson. Nelson breaks the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nathan Nelson dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Jackson moves in looking to clinch but Nelson pushes him off. Nelson misses with a takedown attempt - Jackson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Jackson now looks to counter with a shot at the body. Nelson shoots for a takedown but Jackson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Nelson slips under a jab. Jackson clinches with his opponent.
Nelson stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Jackson is trying to push Nelson away but Nelson has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nelson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Jackson stuffs the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nathan Nelson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jackson leaves Nelson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Jackson is looking for the big counter here. Jackson pulls out of a head kick attempt.

and Nelson counters with a stiff right hand. Nelson closes the distance and pushes Jackson back into the cage. Jackson wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Jackson wants to control from the top but Nelson keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jackson pushing down on Nelson's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nelson tries to kick Jackson off but Jackson keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Nelson keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Jackson wants to take a breather but Nelson is having none of it.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Nelson has his takedown stuffed and Jackson counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Nelson thinking. Jackson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nelson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jackson somewhat. Jackson should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Jackson gets off balance looking for a body kick and Nelson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jackson won't be happy with that. Nelson stands up and beckons Jackson to his feet. Nelson shoots in but no luck this time. Nathan Nelson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Jackson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Nelson sprawls well. Nelson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jackson gets slowly back to his feet. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Jackson. Nelson quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Jackson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Nelson defends it nicely. Nelson thinks about countering with a head kick. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nelson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Jackson unleashes a big counter combination but Nelson bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Jackson throws a low kick but Nelson moves out of range easily. No luck with that takedown attempt from Jackson. Nelson shoots in but no luck this time. Nelson is looking for a takedown. Nelson's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Jackson misses with some punches.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Jackson. Jackson tries to clinch but Nelson is having none of it. Nelson drops down looking for a counter takedown but Jackson sprawls and moves away. Jackson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Nelson.
