Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Yo Hwan Lim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kaice Gunn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Yo Hwan Lim!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kaice Gunn!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Winston Howard and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab lands there for Gunn.

Gunn closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gunn lands in his opponent's guard.

Lim scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Lim throws an overhand right that lands on Gunn's shoulder, as Gunn tries to avoid the shot.

Lim fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Gunn to the ground. Lim is now in Gunn's guard.
Gunn keeping moving, preventing Lim from controlling successfully.
Lim tries to free his leg and advance position but Gunn is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gunn has a closed guard, preventing Lim from standing up.
Lim is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Gunn is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lim defends well.
Gunn is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Gunn has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lim can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Lim sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gunn's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Lim is nestled in close to Gunn, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Lim is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Gunn defends it well.

It looks like Kaice Gunn has been cut.
Gunn throws out a loose jab but Lim uses good head movement to avoid it.
No luck for Lim with that takedown attempt.
Lim throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gunn.
Lim goes for a double leg but Gunn avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Gunn continues to drive forward.
Lim fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yo Hwan Lim. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Gunn lands a nice leg kick that just misses Lim's sensitive parts.
Gunn lands a nice shot to the body.

Lim shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Lim was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Gunn is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Lim's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Gunn tries to roll over but Lim keeps him under control.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close round but I would say that Yo Hwan Lim will probably get the nod.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Gunn just misses with a punch to the body.
Lim went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Gunn tries to clinch up.
Lim fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gunn avoids it really well and circles away.
Lim throws a series of strikes that have Gunn backpedaling.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lim.
Lim shoots for a takedown but Gunn saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lim misses with a takedown attempt - Gunn sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

and Lim counters with a three punch combo that has Gunn backing up. Gunn nods at Lim to acknowledge the strikes.
Lim goes for a double leg but Gunn avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Gunn continues to drive forward.
Horrible takedown attempt by Gunn or perhaps it was just good defense by Lim, which made it look bad.

Lim takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Yo Hwan Lim is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Gunn drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Lim can't do much from the bottom here.

Gunn looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Gunn cracks Lim with a big right hand but Lim just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

You can see the frustration on Lim's face as Gunn controls the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lim is refusing to be controlled, as Gunn sits in half guard.
My spies in Sydney Fight Team inform me that Gunn has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

That's time! Lim's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Lim shoots for a double leg takedown but Gunn sprawls well. He's pushed Lim's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Lim working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gunn doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gunn manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Gunn darts in looking for a takedown but Lim gets double underhooks and turns Gunn into the cage.

Gunn feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kaice Gunn comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Gunn has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Kaice Gunn tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
