Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marco Buck! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Mir! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Buck gets a clinch. Knees in the clinch landing for Buck.
Buck breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mir throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Buck is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Mir. Frank Mir seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Buck throws a head kick that misses. Mir throws a nice head kick!
It looks like Marco Buck has been cut. Buck on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Buck throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Mir. Buck scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Mir misses with a head kick.
Buck keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Buck tries to counter with a takedown but Mir is quick to defend against it. This has been an exciting period of action! Mir clinches with his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mir lands a nice knee to the body. Buck is breathing heavily. Mir lands a hook that snaps the head of Buck backwards.
Buck is rocked! Mir's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Oh Buck is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Buck could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Mir clinches up against the cage. Clinched against the cage, Mir lands a big elbow that drops Buck! The ref dives in to save him from more shots - Buck is complaining that he's OK but he was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Frank Mir!
