The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Micheangelo Fripello and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Datsik uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Diego.
Datsik throws a head kick that misses.
Diego with a nice cross.
Diego fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Dom Diego seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Diego throws a predictable looking body shot
and Datsik connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Diego throws an overhand right that lands on Datsik's shoulder, as Datsik tries to avoid the shot.
Diego throws a body punch but Datsik moves out of range.
Datsik misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Diego.
Diego attempts a counter takedown but Datsik avoids it well and moves away.

Diego throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Datsik tries to clinch but Diego moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Diego swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Diego closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Datsik to the mat! Datsik manages to get full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Datsik pulls Diego in close to his closed guard and prevents Diego from doing any damage or advancing position.

Datsik is trying to control the position but Diego postures up.
Diego wants to pass the guard but Datsik is keeping the position.
Diego missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Diego stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Datsik swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Datsik looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Diego puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Diego has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Diego is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Datsik keeping hold of Diego's head, controlling as best he can.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Datsik is looking for a sweep. Diego is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Diego thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Datsik's head.
Datsik wants to control but Diego is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Diego seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Datsik is staying active underneath Diego, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Datsik wants to improve his position but Diego is controlling well.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Diego lands a nice short elbow.
Diego uses his free foot to push down on Datsik's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Datsik.
Diego throwing strikes here but Datsik is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Diego is landing with some decent strikes but Datsik is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Diego throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Datsik because Diego loaded up on that one.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Diego cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Datsik is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Diego drops a big elbow. That's hurt Datsik! More shots from Diego and the ref steps in! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dom Diego!
Post fight, Dom Diego stared into the camera and said 'Came to knock this punk out. All he did was spam takedowns and subs big surprise.'.
