Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eddy Raymond! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alexander Carey! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Ben Watson and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carey closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Raymond sneaks out the side door and pushes Carey away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Left hook, right uppercut from Carey.
It looks like Eddy Raymond has been cut. Alexander Carey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice uppercut lands for Carey. That snapped Raymond's head back.
Carey throws a nice head kick!
Raymond is rocked! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Carey clinches up against the cage. Oh Raymond is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Carey effectively controlling the action here. Raymond seems to have got his legs back now. Carey drags the fight down to the ground.
Raymond postures up in Carey's guard and throws a big left but Carey blocks it. Carey is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Carey has his foot on Raymond's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Raymond works his way back into a safe position though. Raymond scoring with some ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carey controlling Raymond's posture. Raymond got a little sloppy there for a moment and Carey has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Raymond has managed to get both his arms back between Carey's legs - danger averted. Raymond throws a big right hand that misses. Raymond throws a big elbow that misses. That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Carey drives through with a takedown into Raymond's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Raymond manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. Raymond goes for a takedown in the clinch but Carey prevents it.
Raymond is trying to trip Carey. He has hold of a leg but Carey is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Raymond persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Carey manages to escape and get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Raymond has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Carey avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Carey lands a body punch. Carey breaks from the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Carey uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Raymond. Carey shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Raymond's guard. Raymond looking for a guillotine here but Carey defends easily.
Raymond is breathing heavily. Carey trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Raymond looking to control.
Carey must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Raymond looking to hit a scissor sweep but Carey is one step ahead there. Alexander Carey dominated that round. The cut man is working on Eddy Raymond's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Raymond throws a series of punches but Carey moves out of range. Raymond could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Carey drives through with a takedown into guard. Raymond keeping moving, preventing Carey from controlling successfully. Raymond looking for a sweep. Not yet Raymond, not yet. Carey really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Raymond. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Raymond throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Raymond has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Raymond working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Carey doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Carey manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Carey gets to his feet. Raymond looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carey drives through with a takedown into Raymond's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Raymond is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Carey wanted to stand there but Raymond had control of the position. Carey stands and steps away. Raymond gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Raymond has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ. Carey dives in and scores a takedown into Raymond's guard. Alexander Carey has got the better of the ground game so far. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Raymond throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Raymond's guard. Carey tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Carey seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Raymond does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Carey throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Carey missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Raymond looking for submissions off his back. Carey prevents Raymond from improving his position. Carey is working for a kimura but Raymond is defending it quite comfortably.

He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Raymond seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Carey blocking the ground and pound attempt from Raymond. Raymond passes into side control, despite Carey's attempt to control the position.
Carey is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Raymond is controlling him well. Raymond connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Carey some visible discomfort.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Raymond has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Raymond throws a body punch but Carey moves out of range. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alexander Carey showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Eddy Raymond's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Carey is looking to clinch. A swing and a miss from Raymond. Raymond tries to clinch and Carey counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Raymond fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Carey manages to avoid it. Raymond throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A little jabbing left from Carey on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Carey gets in close and instigates a clinch. Raymond goes for a takedown attempt but Carey pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Carey manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Raymond on his heels. He'll look to pass Raymond's guard now, I'm sure. Raymond has his feet on Carey's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Carey has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Raymond throws a sloppy head kick and Carey moves out of range easily. Carey fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Raymond sprawls well initially but Carey persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Carey wants to lay and pray for a moment but Raymond keeps working. Raymond gets back to full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Raymond takes the fight into the clinch. Carey breaks the clinch.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Raymond lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Carey utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Alexander Carey. Well Carey has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
