Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between David Hernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arthur Schopenhauer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, David Hernandez!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Arthur Schopenhauer!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Bart Greer and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schopenhauer shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hernandez but Hernandez pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Schopenhauer keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Schopenhauer is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Horrible takedown attempt by Schopenhauer or perhaps it was just good defense by Hernandez, which made it look bad.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hernandez shoots for a takedown but Schopenhauer saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Schopenhauer looks to score with a jab to the body but Hernandez is just out of range.
David Hernandez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hernandez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Schopenhauer's waist but Schopenhauer gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hernandez off to one side.

Hernandez has his foot on Schopenhauer's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Schopenhauer works his way back into a safe position though.

Schopenhauer is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hernandez doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Schopenhauer.

Schopenhauer is trying to work for a kimura but Hernandez is defending well.
Hernandez has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Schopenhauer goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Hernandez turns into him and now he's in Schopenhauer's guard.

Hernandez is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Schopenhauer has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at THE GYM (20 Elite coaches on the Island !!!). Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Schopenhauer is on top in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Schopenhauer is looking for a kimura but Hernandez is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Schopenhauer to get the leverage.

Schopenhauer wants to work for an arm triangle but Hernandez is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Schopenhauer turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Schopenhauer manages to end up in side control.

Schopenhauer is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Hernandez has escaped the position, nice work there.
Schopenhauer lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Hernandez is trying to get back to half guard.
Schopenhauer has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Schopenhauer fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Schopenhauer is looking to work his way around to Hernandez's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
Hernandez is trying to escape the mount but Schopenhauer keeps good control and instead manages to take Hernandez's back.

Well, with Schopenhauer on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Hernandez is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

Schopenhauer is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Hernandez has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Schopenhauer is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Hernandez defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Schopenhauer is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Schopenhauer has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Hernandez has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Arthur Schopenhauer has got the better of the ground game so far.

Hernandez is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Schopenhauer gets his way!
Hernandez wants to control his opponent's hands but Schopenhauer gets his hands free.

Schopenhauer bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hernandez's guard.

Schopenhauer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hernandez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hernandez is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Schopenhauer has his hands clasped together but Hernandez extends and breaks Schopenhauer's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Hernandez.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). David Hernandez!
