PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Andy Berdich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leeroy Jenkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jenkins is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Rock On. Leeroy Jenkins will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andy Berdich!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Leeroy Jenkins!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jenkins slaps away a takedown attempt from Berdich, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Jenkins, right into the meat.
Berdich has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Jenkins.
Berdich closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jenkins circles away.
Jenkins throws a chopping leg kick but Berdich manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Berdich throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jenkins's waist but Jenkins gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Berdich off to one side.
Jenkins has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andy Berdich. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Berdich tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Berdich looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Berdich feints and as Jenkins raises his hands in defense, Berdich changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Berdich postures up and lands a big shot to Jenkins's brow.
Berdich throws a big right hand that misses.

Berdich stands up over Jenkins, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Berdich slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Berdich controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Berdich distracts Jenkins with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Jenkins keeping full guard, as Berdich tries to pass.
Berdich in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Berdich is working Jenkins over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Berdich stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jenkins swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jenkins trying to keep a closed guard but Berdich is proving a slippery customer.
Berdich pushes down on Jenkins's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Berdich has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Berdich is working for a kimura but Jenkins is defending it quite comfortably.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Berdich lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Berdich drops an elbow to the side of Jenkins's head.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Berdich lands a nice short elbow.
Berdich tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jenkins knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Berdich is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Jenkins!

Berdich looking for a guillotine from mount but Jenkins is having none of it.
Berdich softens up his opponent with a couple of shots there and then CRACK! One massive shot lands there and Jenkins is out cold! Berdich jumps to his feet and celebrates on the cage with the fans, who are, quite frankly, going absolutely mental!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Andy Berdich!
Andy Berdich seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
Leeroy Jenkins was interviewed post fight and said 'Juast luck mate...'.
