Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paul Maul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kaka Papa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Paul Maul!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kaka Papa!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Dirk Anderson and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Papa looks for a takedown but Maul sprawls well.
Maul lands with a right hand.
Papa moves out of range as Maul strikes.
A telegraphed right hand from Maul misses the target.
Good exchange - Maul coming out on top.
No joy there for Maul, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Maul ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Some wild striking there from Maul.
Papa uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Maul.
Nice takedown defense from Maul. No joy for Papa on that attempt.
Maul appears to be looking for a big counter.
A looping hook to the body misses from Maul. Papa does a little dance to reset his feet.
Maul throws a body shot but no joy.

Maul gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Papa to score an easy takedown into full guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Maul manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Maul lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Maul breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Papa is defended easily by Maul.
Paul Maul has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kaka Papa.
Papa is trying hard to land a takedown here. Maul sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Papa dives in for a single leg takedown but Maul sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Maul scores with a jab to the jaw.
Maul scores with a sloppy right hand. Papa should have avoided that one.

Papa closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Maul to the mat! Maul manages to get full guard.
Papa wants to pass the guard but Maul is keeping the position.
Maul is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Papa trying to control but Maul is working from the bottom.
Maul lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


That's two minutes gone in the round.
Maul wants to control from the top but Papa keeps moving.
Maul is fighting to break Papa's control of his arms but Papa is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Papa is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Papa is figuring out what he wants to do next.
It looks like Papa might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Maul is looking to improve his position.

Maul is refusing to be controlled, as Papa sits in half guard.
Papa throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Maul wants to control but Papa is keeping busy.
Papa trying to control the pace.
Maul keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Maul tries to roll over but Papa keeps him under control.
Papa sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Maul defending well though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Maul slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Maul is trying to control the position but Papa postures up.
Papa trying to control but Maul is working from the bottom.
Papa working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Papa content to stall in guard here.
Papa wants to control from the top but Maul keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Maul dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Maul connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Papa tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Maul defends well and Papa ends up having to push Maul into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Papa looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Maul lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Kaka Papa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Some wild striking there from Maul.
Maul lands a head shot.
Papa shoots for a double leg takedown but Maul sprawls well. He's pushed Papa's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Papa closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Maul did well to prevent Papa getting side control.

Maul has one foot on Papa's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

The fighters circling - Maul throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Maul leaves Papa with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Maul moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Maul scores with a hook to the body. Papa takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Papa walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Papa takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Papa shoots in for a takedown but Maul shows good takedown defense.
A big left from Maul misses.
Papa changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Maul looks to land a combination but Papa avoids it well.
Papa with the counter takedown but Maul avoids it easily.
Paul Maul is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Maul bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Papa takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Papa staying out of range there.
Maul connects with a nice looking jab.


Papa is rocked!
Maul is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Papa shoots in for a double leg but Maul sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
An attempted straight right counter from Maul misses the target.
Papa is still on wobbly legs! Can Maul finish him?
Maul plants his feet and throws a 3 punch combo. Miss, miss, boom! The third punch, a big right hook, connects right on the temple and drops Papa to the mat, unconscious! This fight is all over! Papa just couldn't keep out of the way of the whole flurry of punches!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Paul Maul!
Paul Maul tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
