The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kilkenny misses with a double jab
so Rana counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Kilkenny wants to sweep but no luck.
Kilkenny really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rana. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Rana wants to control from the top but Kilkenny keeps moving.
Rana postures up in Kilkenny's guard and throws a big left but Kilkenny blocks it.
Rana trying to control the position from guard on top but Kilkenny is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rana works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Rana postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Kilkenny to stand up.
Kilkenny throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
We've been hearing reports that Rana has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Rana looking to score a takedown here. Kilkenny is defending well but Rana drives through and ends up in Kilkenny's guard.
Kilkenny is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Rana presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Kilkenny connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Rana's hands.

Kilkenny defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Rana.

Kilkenny lands a left and a right that send Rana crashing to the mat, dazed. Kilkenny thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Rana is rocked!
It looks like Mustafiq Rana has been cut.
Rana drops his hands for a split second and Kilkenny immediately capitalizes on the opportunity by smashing a powerful hook into Rana face, sending his mouthguard sailing through the air, much to the delight of the crowd. Kilkenny follows up with a right hand that knocks Rana into next week. He's out cold and this fight is over!
