Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Nathan Nelson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dj Shaw! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Winston Alpacca and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nelson throws a series of punches but Shaw moves out of range. Shaw looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Shaw goes for a double leg but Nelson avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Nelson continues to drive forward. Nelson fails with a takedown attempt. Shaw shapes to counter with a head kick. Shaw shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Nelson counters with a crisp one two that drops Shaw! Nelson thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Shaw to his feet! Shaw is in big trouble!
Shaw is rocked! Nelson shoots in but Shaw avoids the takedown attempt easily. Nelson sets himself, and Shaw steps forward looking for the clinch! Nelson avoids it this time. Shaw is still on wobbly legs! Can Nelson finish him? Nelson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Shaw, pushing him back against the cage. Nelson tries for a takedown but Shaw manages to get underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nathan Nelson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nelson has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Shaw clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Shaw preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Nelson. Nelson controls the position. Nelson is looking for the choke from the back position but Shaw is controlling his hands well. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Nelson looking to break Shaw's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Shaw remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Nelson will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Nelson is loading up with his shots from the back and Shaw is in big trouble! Shaw taps out to strikes and the fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Nathan Nelson! Dj Shaw spoke after the fight, saying 'This is bullshit i had that fight he was the better fighter though so im just going to ask for a rematch'.
