The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valencia will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Valencia drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Valencia postures up and lands a big shot to Sonnen's brow.
Sonnen is looking for a triangle but Valencia pushes his legs off easily.
Valencia is looking to work some ground and pound but Sonnen has wrist control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sonnen wants to sweep but no luck.
Valencia stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Sonnen has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Valencia manages to get his head free but now Sonnen has transitioned to an armbar! Valencia grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Sonnen! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
