PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Lance Armsslow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kim Sun Ju (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kim Sun Ju!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Ben Zyskovitsi and Arvi Lind.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ju closes the distance and clinches up with Armsslow, looking for a takedown. Ju pushes Armsslow against the cage but Armsslow circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Armsslow looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Ju feints a jab promting Armsslow to slip. Ju then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Armsslow slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Good leg kick by Ju there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Armsslow has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Armsslow seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Armsslow really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Ju throws a one two combo.

Ju clinches.
Armsslow is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Ju is defending well.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Ju's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Ju throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Ju closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ju lands in his opponent's guard.

Ju decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Armsslow, up you get!

Ju bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Ju has closed the distance and engaged Armsslow in a clinch.

Ju turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Armsslow sneaks out the side door and pushes Ju away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Ju changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Armsslow tries to avoid it but Ju manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Armsslow to the ground. Armsslow escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Ju throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Armsslow was covering up waiting for the punch and Ju finishes the takedown easily into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ju gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Ju thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Armsslow if he has to take too many more of those.
Ju throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Ju throws a sloppy head kick and Armsslow moves out of range easily.
Ju shoots in looking for a takedown but Armsslow manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ju's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Lance Armsslow has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kim Sun Ju.

and Armsslow counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Ju!

Ju throws the kick towards the body but Armsslow avoids it.

Armsslow stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Armsslow wants it to stay on the feet.

Armsslow drives through and clinches with Ju against the cage.
Armsslow lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Armsslow escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Armsslow has Ju pressed against the cage, preventing Ju from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Ju is pressed up against the cage. Armsslow has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Ju down to the mat. Ju avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Ju dives in and scores a takedown into Armsslow's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Ju stands up and waves to Armsslow to follow him.

Ju shoots in and bounces Armsslow off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Ju slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Horrible takedown attempt by Armsslow or perhaps it was just good defense by Ju, which made it look bad.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Ju lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Armsslow circles away quickly and effectively.

Ju feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ju does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Well Ju has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
