Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ian Tunstall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Waterdeep (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chris Waterdeep will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ian Tunstall!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Waterdeep!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Richard Clark and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tunstall stuffs the takedown.
Waterdeep shoots for a takedown but Tunstall saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Waterdeep closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Waterdeep has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Tunstall!
Tunstall is looking to improve his position but Waterdeep isn't that keen on the idea.

Tunstall bucks up and throws Waterdeep to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!

Tunstall shoots in and bounces Waterdeep off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Tunstall passes Waterdeep's left leg - he's now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Waterdeep keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Tunstall is working for a kimura but Waterdeep is defending it quite comfortably.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Waterdeep wants to improve his position but Tunstall is controlling well.
Waterdeep tries to kick Tunstall off but Tunstall keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Tunstall wants to stand but Waterdeep has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Waterdeep looking for submissions off his back.
Waterdeep works his way to full guard. Good work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Waterdeep escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tunstall gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Waterdeep looks gassed!
Tunstall is pushing down on Waterdeep's leg trying to pass to half guard. Waterdeep is fighting to maintain full guard but Tunstall has managed to sneak the leg through.
Tunstall not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Waterdeep wants to get back to his feet.
Waterdeep makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Waterdeep.
Tunstall forces his way into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Tunstall connects with a nice short shot to Waterdeep's temple.
Tunstall blocks the strikes from Waterdeep.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Waterdeep is looking to improve his position.
Tunstall is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Tunstall postures up in Waterdeep's guard and throws a big left but Waterdeep blocks it.
Tunstall postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Waterdeep has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tunstall can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Waterdeep tries to strike from the bottom.

Tunstall drops back, looking for a kneebar! Waterdeep looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Waterdeep looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Waterdeep!

Waterdeep tries for a kimura but Tunstall is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ian Tunstall will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Tunstall shoots and misses

and Waterdeep counters with a takedown into side control.
Tunstall tries to buck Waterdeep off but Waterdeep is having none of it.
Waterdeep is looking to take a break and control but Tunstall is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Waterdeep lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Tunstall down.
Tunstall is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Waterdeep goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Tunstall has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Waterdeep but great work by Tunstall.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Waterdeep tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Tunstall wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Waterdeep is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Tunstall stands up.
Waterdeep misses with a takedown attempt

and Tunstall counters with a shoot takedown. Waterdeep fights it but they end up in guard.
Waterdeep wants to sweep here but Tunstall controlling him for the moment.

Waterdeep throws his legs up looking for a submission but Tunstall uses it to pass to side control.

Tunstall is working to tighten is grip on Waterdeep's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Waterdeep has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Tunstall is really squeezing tight and eventually Waterdeep passes out! Tunstall breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Ian Tunstall!
