Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Krystian Cierpka! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ronaldo Cristiano! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Alexandre Firmino and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cierpka tries to close the distance and clinch but Cristiano swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Krystian Cierpka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cierpka shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Cristiano defends it nicely. Cristiano lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cierpka circles away quickly and effectively. Cristiano tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cierpka swats him away and circles back towards the center. Cierpka has a takedown stuffed. Cierpka shoots for a double leg takedown but Cristiano sprawls well. He's pushed Cierpka's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Krystian Cierpka. That's going to take a lot out of him. Cierpka keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Nice sprawl there from Cierpka as Cristiano shoots in. Cierpka misses with a two punch combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cristiano has a takedown stuffed. Cristiano changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cierpka tries to avoid it but Cristiano manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cierpka to the ground. Cierpka escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Cierpka closes the distance and clinches. Cristiano lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cristiano missing with knees to the body.
Cierpka dodges an elbow strike from Cristiano.
Cristiano misses with a knee to the head. Cierpka gets control of Cristiano's arms and successfully pulls guard. Cierpka will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Cristiano got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cierpka has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Cristiano has managed to get both his arms back between Cierpka's legs - danger averted. Cierpka has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Cristiano seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Cristiano trying to control but Cierpka is working from the bottom. Cierpka has his feet on Cristiano's thighs here. He's pushed Cristiano off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Cristiano screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
